In and Around Droushia

This morning the weather was completely different and it was clear that rain was on its way but I am not sure we were prepared for the massive electrical storm that came this evening.  I thought we might get wet on our walk this morning but actually we were lucky.  In fact at certain times the clouds parted and the sun shone and it was very warm and muggy.

The walk took us round the back of the Amphitheatre and then along to the famous Kari rocks.  The views are spectacular - vast open spaces stretching down towards the sea and Chrysochous Bay.  The landscape is still pretty brown but the rain which was coming will turn this green in just a matter of days.

John and I had recce'd the route previously and with a couple of extra little loops we reckoned that the total distance would be around 6km with some steepish hills in the middle - the majority of the walk was on quiet country roads so we didn't have to be worried about traffic and there were plenty of places to catch our breath and marvel at the vista.

Here is one of the large rock outcrops that are known as the Kari Rocks.  They would normally be a popular destination for professional climbers although not this year for obvious reasons but they stand big and strong overlooking the village.

It is good to see this side of Droushia.  From up here on the top Droushia extends for almost as far as the eye can see.  It is beautiful and today wild and windy - a fabulous day to blow away the cobwebs and breath in fresh air before the weather and the forthcoming revised restrictions conspire to limit this.

And Droushia has cows - did you know that?
