I went down to Mum's this morning - we have been spending Wednesday mornings together as we are not currently playing pickleball so I try and break the week up for her. We have previously had a wander around Lidl but I didn't need anything from there today so Mum suggested we go to the newer AlphaMega and have a cuppa in their cafe and then a wander around. This was a good idea - the cafe is bright and clean and there were only a couple of people in there and then we went for a wander around to see if they had the cream I used to buy from Paps (which they did) and several other things besides.
We actually had a productive morning by way of shopping as I was able to get skirt for me and for Nicky so that we can embark on the festive pasty making later this week and some other lovely meat from Shukrou butchers and I have earmarked a rack of lamb in there for some time in the future when I am entertaining.
Shortly after my return from Mum's we got the announcement we had been waiting for but had hoped wouldn't come that the island was, once again, being plunged into a lockdown of sorts which was to last right through the Christmas period as the new and existing restrictions will be in place until 31st December. The new restrictions come into play at 6.00am on Friday and basically all eateries will close save for takeaway so anyone with plans to eat out will have to think again. It doesn't really affect us too much save for the fact that we have for years gone to the Hotel for a Christmas drink and wont be able to.
We had arranged to meet up with Rob and Di this evening and go for a meal at Fitos - good job too as after tomorrow that isn't a possibility!!! This isn't my photograph but it is to give you an idea of the size of a large pork chop in Cyprus!!! We didn't get our normal table as we had booked but it didn't really matter as we got the one table which is tucked in by the counter and here there is no-one else near you - not even those waiting for a take out. It was great to see the Veaseys and catch up on what they had been doing. Rob and I each tackled one of Joanna's legendary Beef pies, John had the massive chop and Di had stifado. It was a lovely meal and we are hoping that they will remain open for takeaway during this lockdown period or or the next two weeks at least.
A great night and a great meal and home in time for the curfew!!
