We were awake mega early this morning so decided, on a whim and with some advanced information from Nicky, to go to Paphos for our annual Christmas shopping day. Nicky had told us that Jumbos opened at 8.00am and if you got there early enough you benefited from an empty shop and free access to the tills.
We got up and dressed and off down to the Mall and arrived just before 9.00am and Nicky was absolutely right, the shop had more staff wandering around than shoppers and we got the things we wanted and went straight through the tills without any problem - result!!!! We then realised that the reason for this is that no other shops seems to be open until 10.00am so we had the choice of going home or waiting for things to open. We decided to grab ourselves a pain au raisin and a hot drink at La Croissantarie.
We had a little moochette around the shops but really didn't see much although John did get me a couple of gifts in Crislia which he does every year and we separated for a while in search of something for one another.
It was very pleasant having arrived nice and early and we then decided to go have a look in Sun Tower as we are toying with the idea of replacing one of the sofas in the lounge with a couple of chairs. Originally we thought wing-backed but having swapped the sofa for the two tub chairs we realise how much a couple of wing-backs will prevent the heat from the wood burner from circulating into the seating area.
Our final stop on the way home was at Sports Direct as John wanted to get me a decent pair of walking trainers - I have struggled with walking boots because I don't like the fact that they come half way up my legs - that is an issue when you have short legs like I do.
Anyway we were successful getting me some Karrimor walking shoes which were in the sale and came Sheffield United colours and also a very lightweight showerproof jacket which was also in the sale. John was in search of something similar but was not so lucky.
Generally though it was a successful day. I just have my fingers crossed that the few things I have ordered to arrive before Christmas do so otherwise there are going to be rather a lot of IOU's for people!!!
We had earmarked the Chinese pork we had bought in Paps the other day for our tea which we were having with rice. OMG it was every bit as delicious as we had anticipated and it rounded off what had been a lovely day for us.
We had managed to negotiate the Mall without killing one another and got a fair bit of shopping done and then come home to a lovely meal with a glass of wine to accompany.
We rounded off our day by finishing watching the last three episodes of Tin Star which I can only describe as Bonkers but Compulsive viewing - rather violent in places and quite confusing but we both wanted to see it through and will probably embark on the next series in a couple of days now that Season 1 has reached its finale.
Up early tomorrow as the lady walkers are due to leave at 8.30am tomorrow weather permitting - I can't believe I am actually feeling quite excited about it.
