Checking out Evangelismos Hospital!

I cannot really say that today was not the day I had anticipated because if I was honest, looking at Sonia's wrist last night I thought it was probably broken and after an early visit down to Dr Manolis at the Evangelismos Clinic in Polis the X-Ray there confirmed this.  We were dispatched off to Paphos where Sonia was to have her wrist plastered.  I have never had to go to the Evangelismos Hospital in Paphos.  It is a vast building (or actually buildings) and parking is hazardous to say the least but I managed to find a spot and go off to investigate where to find Dr Aspros.  On reception a very nice guy informed me that they were waiting for Sonia and if I could get her across to reception there would be a wheel chair waiting for her.  I did that and on confirming that I could manage Sonia in said wheelchair we embarked on a voyage of discovery!!!

All the members of staff were very helpful.  We got to Dr Aspros consulting room and although there were others waiting Sonia was deemed an emergency so got seen first.  Dr Aspros gave her the choice of chip and pin (plate and screws) or normal pot and Sonia, not wanting yet another operation, asked for just a normal pot.  She was plastered and then I took her for a second X-Ray to confirm that the ordinary pot would be sufficient to knit the break and he was satisfied that it would do so.  All this excitement and we were back home within about two hours of leaving which was excellent service and all under the new GESY scheme which, thankfully, Sonia had signed up to only yesterday morning!!!

On our way home I called into the RSS office in Peyia to eventually collect my 60th birthday present from my sister.  Originally Kaye would have brought this over with her in April when she was due to come but got cancelled due to lockdown.  Then she rearranged for October but had to rearrange yet again.  I then got her to send the parcel via RSS and for some reason I never got the call to say that it had arrived and so had been searching for it ever since.  The picture above is not the actual necklace I received - mine is engraved with the names of our cats.  At the time of my birthday Chivers was still with us but sadly now he is not but he will never be forgotten and the necklace is beautiful - even if it did reduce me to tears.

We got her home and settled just in time for the arrival of Dip and Karen who were braving the elements and coming up to the hills armed with food!!!  Karen had made a chicken curry, a prawn curry and marinaded some billy big prawns in garlic and ginger.  John had made naan breads and I cooked the rice and we sat down to a lovely meal.  Dip and Karen had their flight home in November cancelled so they are due back on 5th December on the same flight as Lakis and Argy - I have told them that if for any reason they are still here at Christmas they had better come on up and I will feed them.  I hope for their sake they get home as Karen wants to see her children and grandchildren and she has my Christmas Cards to post!!  Sorry for the quality of the photograph - we were all pretty hungry so it was a hastily taken snap.  I think the heavy rain, cold temperatures and rolling mists confirmed Dip's opinion of living up in the sticks - he is a confirmed Paphos Universal Area man!
