Christmas is coming...

There is this weekend and then just one more before Christmas and I am a bit panicky - I am not sure how I am going to get everything done in time.  The biggest issue is that I really don't want to fight my way around a supermarket so I just might have to send John (who doesn't seem to mind).

Anyway before I start panicking about Christmas I have this Sunday to sort - Mum is bringing her friend Lilian for lunch and so Saturday was spent prepping the meat and the veg and sorting out something for a pudding and in between all that I needed to rustle up an entry for this week's challenge which is CHRISTMAS - I was hoping that this would be a theme that would result in a flood of entries but just in case I always do a couple to swell the numbers.  Christmas is going to be so very different for people this year so maybe there is little enthusiasm for it.

We have sorted the furniture in the lounge by moving out one of the sofas and putting it in the conservatory and then putting the two tub chairs from the conservatory into the lounge.  Ideally we want to buy two new chairs as the tubs are a bit worse for wear and not so very comfortable to sit on for extended periods of time but they do allow the heat from the wood burner to come up and over the top and make the whole room seem warmer.

The Christmas decs are up and there is a nice warm glow around the place - today John decided he would light the wood burner for the first time this winter - not that it was particularly cold but he wanted to ensure we had no issues before we need to use it in earnest.  It was fine and the whole house was soon toasty warm - so much so that we had the door open to the conservatory and that was cosy too.

I ran out of time to get Mum's room ready - that will be my priority on Monday - I need to make some space so John can move some clothes into our room otherwise he has to lurk about waiting until Mum is ready before he can get himself some pants!!!

I have been busy trying to work out a menu and a viewing schedule for the days that she is here.  I started by making some home-made leek and potato soup which we will have on the Wednesday evening after she arrives - once Fred has been safely deposited at the vets.

For some reason a weird night's sleep - I was tired early and got in a good five hours before waking up and then I struggled to get back to sleep so decided to wake John up to feel my pain - we were reading the paper and drinking coffee at around 3.00am!!!
