Lockdown Looms

Tomorrow we are plunged into full lockdown with just two outings allowed each day and only then when we have asked permission.  With that in mind Nicky, Rachel and I did our last socially distanced outing.  We have decided that although we are careful it is clear we are three people walking and the rules say only two so from tomorrow Nicky and I will walk on a Tuesday and Rachel and I will walk on a Saturday so as not to fall foul of the regulations.

Komoot let us down a bit today because I had plotted a walk which was to include a section of the Kathikas Nature Trail and for some reason we never got the nod to turn off - we actually ended up on the road to nowhere and we had to traipse through a vineyard to get back on track!

Fortunately the nature trail was just a little loop off of the walk we normally do from Kathikas but by missing it out we were a bit short on kms so when we got to the right spot I was able to slot in a change to the normal route so that we got a change of scenery and a bit of a hill to give us a challenge.

It was the most beautiful morning and as we came to the end of the walk it was almost too hot for us.  It is January and it was about 10.30am - Lord help us as the year progresses!!  We know that we will not be able to do this together for the next three weeks and we know how very difficult this whole situation has been for Rachel and Savvas who have strived to keep their heads above water when everything has been stacked against them.  I think that she, Nicky and I have all benefited from having some girlie time together to step away from day to day life and enjoy the fabulous surroundings right on our doorstep.

We have three weeks of this current lockdown and then we can pick up the reins and go back to our walks - we have set ourselves a target that during the course of the year we are going to cover a distance equivalent to walking from Land's End to John 'O Groats - we have quite a way to go but we will make it!

I returned home and did something in the garden I have not had to do in January before - water!!!!  It has been such a long and dry winter (so far) that things are beginning to suffer so although rain is forecast for next week I had to pre-empt it and intervene.

We settled down this afternoon ready for the next few weeks which will mean we are fundamentally at home bar going out for food shopping and exercise.  We are ready.
