Today was a much better day weather-wise but we didn't have anything much planned so we were basically at home. The weekly lockdown challenge has recommenced and the subject matter this week is Sheep and/or Goats and I decided to do another bit of art to submit - using a wine cork to 'stamp' the wooly part of the sheep. Bless Nicky she had offered to drink a bottle of wine for me so that I had a suitable cork for stamping but I declined as I already had one.
We like to make our evening meals special - irrespective of what we are eating we always sit at the dining table with proper crockery and cutlery and normally a nice glass of wine - or at least a wine which we consider to be nice and generally that is from our local winery - Vasilikon. John decided to nip out this morning and go and stock up on some vino as the winery is open for takeaway sales. He had a little chat with one of the brothers, Yiannis, who has known us ever since we used to go out on our moped on a Sunday, when we first arrived, and check out the progress of the building of the new winery and if he was there he would tell us how things were going and press a bottle of wine into our hands saying that he would be "open soon". Anyway if you purchase a box of 12 bottles of wine you get the 13th free and we generally keep it all the same so as John was stocking up on the red Ayios Onoufrios he was going to ask for an extra one of those but instead Yiannis presented John with a bottle of their Methi red which is what we have always referred to as their Christmas Wine, it being much more full-bodied and expensive!!! How very lovely of him and we will enjoy that immensely with our stifado earmarked for tonight.
I got round to staining the legs of John's new footstool and am pleased with the results as it matches in with the rest of the furniture better and he loves it because it is exactly the right size for him. We are so glad we made the decision to get new chairs - John loves his and Minnie Mou loves mine - I am back on the sofa most of the time!!!
