Nicky rang to check if we were still going and when I said yes she appeared like Nanook of the North because although by the time we left the sun was shining the wind was keen and sharp. We had decided to do our Droushia Inea Droushia walk in reverse so that we went out through Droushia and back through Inea. When you do this you are rewarded with completely different views en route but there always seem to be a preferred direction after having tried both ways.
On our outward leg the sun was glorious and the views equally so. When I walk with Nicky or Rachel we do like to stop and take in our surroundings relishing the fact that we have so much beauty right on our doorstep. Everywhere is now so very green that the landscape is about as close as it can ever be to a view from the UK - John says it reminds him of Yorkshire.
As we began to reach our furthest point the clouds were beginning to form but it was still pleasant and I had been quite glad that I had been wrong about it raining and John had been right. Rachel has asked to walk further on Saturday if we are able to to make up for the fact that our walk was cut short on Tuesday - I am happy with that as I think the weather is set to be very cold tomorrow and then start improving.
As we walked down the hill from the Radar to the point where you get a distant but beautiful view of the bays at Lara you could see that there were very black clouds over that bit of the coast and the weather was definitely coming from that direction so we decided to step it out so that we got home before we got wet. The only trouble was that the remainder of the walk was all uphill so that would make it slower.
Well let's just say we didn't make it - by the time we got to Inea the heavens had opened and the temperature had dropped and we were soaked! This is about the most awful photograph I could have taken of me and Nicky - I look like a drowned rat and she looks like the village idiot - it is just the angle of the camera!!! We were within about 10 minutes of home when Mark phoned to come rescue us but by then it was too late and we just continued as quickly as we could to our homes and a nice warming drink!!!
Sorry Nicky xxx John your weather forecast is shite!!!
