A bright start to the day...

There was some sunshine this morning - it was somewhat short-lived but enough to make everything seem better.  I had to shoot down and do a bit of shopping and pick up the last remaining parcels I had been waiting for from before Christmas.  Just as well they have arrived as they are exempt from any extra charges which is great otherwise they wouldn't have been worth getting particularly as one was a box of small bayonet fitting lightbulbs for the standard lamp in the conservatory.  It would have been cheaper to by a new lamp if VAT and Duty and Handling and "I am having a bad day at the office" penalties had been incurred!!

I was super pleased that the foot stool I had ordered for John to go with his armchair was amongst the packages.  It is perfect and even more so because the cover on it is removable and washable.  I just think that I will get some stain for the legs as they are light wood and nothing we have in the lounge is that colour - I will just need to be careful applying it as the legs of the stool aren't removable!

This afternoon, once the sun had been replaced by storms, it felt chilly indoors so John lit the woodburner early and once the bed was established he put on one very large piece of the wood which Spiros brought the time he came up with Mum.  We aren't sure what it is - some looks a bit like carob but he seemed to indicate it was Acacia.  Sometimes it burns really well and hot and other times it doesn't - today was a good day and that one piece lasted for hours and the room felt really cosy and comfortable.  Added to that there was the unmistakable and delicious smell of a stifado being cooked coming from the kitchen and which we were having for supper - I was rather glad we had had the freezer mix up yesterday becuase that had dictated what we were going to eat tonight.

The Lockdown Art/Craft/Photography Challenge resumes today - I had chosen sheep and/or goats as the subject matter and as if to give John and I a helping hand this afternoon a local herd was being walked through the field next door giving us a photo opportunity except that it was piddling down at the time so there was little time to frame the shot and capture a winner!

I got my water-colour pencils out to have a go at trying to 'paint' a sheep or lamb - I am not sure I am absolutely pleased with it but at least it is an entry as I have no idea how many we might get in.

After supper (which was lovely) we settled down to a bit of TV - we had to start a new series this evening which is always a bit of a challenge - having enjoyed the last two immensely they were going to be a hard act to follow.

We chose something called The Third Day which stars Jude Law and was on Sky last year.  There is only one word to describe the first episode and this is BONKERS!!!

We are undecided as to whether to bother with any more.  The storyline is confusing and it has a feel like it was filmed on a hand-held video camera as it is all a bit jerky and sometimes out of focus.  I am guessing this is how it is meant to be but it is a bit distracting.
