Slow recovery for Charlie...

We had a slightly less fraught night last night thankfully, and this morning Charlie did his normal get up at 4.00am for a snackette.  This was a good sign if not a little annoying but rather that than him being so poorly.

In this plastic bag is the piece of grass which the lovely vet Dr Michelle Dekorsy gently removed on Saturday - we had been expecting a grass seed or something of a similar size so I think we were all a bit gob-smacked when we saw the extent of the issue that Charlie had been dealing with.

We had made an appointment for Charlie on Friday at the vets in Prodromi this morning - obviously he couldn't wait that long but Dr Michelle wanted a follow-up and she was in Polis this morning so we went along as planned.  This time Charlie was not sick nor did he poo and his temperature was normal, he had put on 10 grams and his heart rhythm was good but he is now somewhere between 9 and 10 years old and as Dr Michelle pointed out if he had any underlying health conditions now would be a good time to investigate and if there were any, deal with them.  We agreed because we know he is grossly overweight and that in itself isn't good for him or his liver.  We are to embark on an eating plan for Charlie to try and get him to lose a little weight.

It was with some relief that we returned home with Charlie and allowed him to have a wander around the garden.  For the first time in years we actually have some daffodils flowering in the garden.  Laura and Mark gave us the bulbs some years ago and they flowered the first time and then were blind - growing lots of leaves but never flowering until now.  They look so bright and cheerful - it's hard to imagine that the weather is going to deteriorate this afternoon and be cold and stormy for the remainder of the week.

We took advantage of the morning sunshine and spent our time in the conservatory because it was nice and warm - the only trouble was that there was an annoying fly in there so John and I played a game of fly-swat tennis until the offender was despatched - if nothing else it keeps us warm!!!

Being the start of a new week it is the start of a new lockdown challenge - this week's subject should stretch people - it is Bottles and not, as someone thought Bottoms!!!  Mind you that could be one for the future!!!

We decided that we ought to move some wood before the rains come - we had one of Mum's old storage boxes out by the carport and the lid had become age hardened - so much so that we think Boris jumped down from the carport and ended up going through the top as there was a Boris shaped hole in the top and the wood underneath was getting damp.  John also had a branch that he needed to cut up and lay down for another year.  I took a turn around the garden - it could have done with some water but knowing that rain was on the way I didn't bother and also knowing that rain was on the way postponed my walk with Nicky until Thursday when it is supposed to be cold but not so wet.

There is nothing nicer, on a day like today, than to have the fire lit and to settle down in front of the TV and relax.  John thought that this log looked like it had a pair of beady eyes looking out!!!

Our evenings viewing was to watch The Mighty Blades get slaughtered by their arch rivals West Sham - the game was abysmal and that is being kind.  Hello Championship next season!!

The forecast was right - the rain finally came - an hour or so later than we thought and it was heavy and at this point Charlie had decided to go out for a wander - needless to say I started worrying about him again and put on my wet weather gear so I could roam the streets looking for him - bloody Boris decided to come too so I came home minus two cats - Miss Minnie was sensibly hunkered down on my pillow.  During a lull in the storm both the boys reappeared thank goodness - soaking wet but safe and sound.
