Useless Engineering Visit

Yesterday the weather had been rather indifferent but today we were back to wall-to-wall sunshine which meant that my walk with Nicky was on and furthermore we were not going to get wet which is always a bonus.

Our walk today started and finished in Arodes although not at the church as previously.  I don't avoid walking from Droushia for any particular reason save that most of the places I would want to go involve walking past the dump which is not my idea of fun - so much better to start somewhere where this particular eyesore can be avoided in my book.  So today we started near the horses and the walk incorporated elements we have done before along with some new tracks which is always good.

It really was glorious as we travelled along the road which runs parallel to the main road from Polis to Peyia - my Kamoot showed that the distance was going to be about 10km with just some gentle ascent and descent but in reality I think it was lying - Nicky would say it was as we had quite a bit of hill to negotiate.

We take time out to admire the view although in reality I think it is so we can catch our breath!!!  and as the whole idea is that we enjoy this exercise it is the sensible thing to do.   Here we were on the West side of the main road and shortly afterwards we crossed over to the East side to circumnavigate Kathikas in a semi-circular direction and ultimately find ourselves back at the beginning.

The weekly pattern of lockdown life makes me wonder how I used to spend, or sometimes squander, my days previously.  Even though currently I have three walks a week I just seem to have more time on my hands and more energy and enthusiasm to do other things which I used to say I never had time to do before.  Both John and I are reading - we sit in companionable silence in the conservatory most afternoons enjoying the warmth and loving our literature.

This is the view across from Kathikas to Stroumbi - we were taking a slightly different route than normal so we didn't have to negotiate Big Dog Hill but were down more in the valley and it is so green at the moment - a lot of wheat being grown and just the regular green 'grass' stuff which appears regular as clockwork in the spring.

The last leg of the walk takes us round the back of the Farmyard and along parallel to the main road which we then crossed back over and found little Kenny Kembara waiting for us.  It was quite a strenuous walk and Nicky had been nursing a migraine from the outset so I was really pleased that she was able to complete it - plus it started to get very warm by the end of it.

John arrived home shortly after me - he had been on a route march with Liselotte and, not being familiar with Kamoot, got lost or ignored her instructions so they went very much off-piste today - apparently it was fab off roading but very steep!!!

We had intended to go and do a bit of shopping but just as we had received our approval to go out and were on our way the engineer from Trikkis came to look at our PV monitoring system.  He was a nice enough lad but told us he was new and that I knew more about the system than he did.  After a lot of faffing about and millions of phonecalls he declared it impossible to fix and it looked like it was going to mean an expensive swap out of equipment in order for us to be able to see production.  However, I had been in touch with someone on tintyweb who had emailed some suggestions and after the engineer left I was able to prove that the issue was firmly at their end and not ours.  The engineer said he would ring back tomorrow to tell us what was going to happen.
