The weather forecast for today was not brilliant but John had assured me that there might be rain before I was due to walk with Liselotte at 9.00am and then no more rain until after we had finished. I had plotted a walk around the back of Kathikas that wasn't too onerous and wasn't too far from civilization in case we needed to be rescued. When I woke it was blustery but dry so I text Liselotte as planned at 8.30 and we decided to go and then the heavens opened!!! I waited for it to subside and then set off for Arodes.
It was grey and wet when I got to Arodes but we had made a decision and I had dressed accordingly. I had missed my walk on Tuesday because of Nicky's tumble so I really did want to get some sort of exercise today. Liselotte arrived shortly after me and we got organised and set off. The only trouble was I walked the walk I had plotted in reverse which sent Narky Nora into a flat spin!!!
When we set off walking the clouds began to part and the sun began to peep through so it was warm and muggy but lovely to be out in the fresh air. Narky Nora was busy having a fit because when she tole us to turn right we turned left and she was convinced we had 'left the tour' when we had not we were simply 'walking backwards for Christmas' as Monty Python would say!!!
When we got to the halfway point which is on the Kathikas Akourdaleia main road and therefore the furthest point from the car which was at the church in Arodes the weather took a turn for the worse - this photograph is fresh out of my phone - no adjustment - the sky was BLACK and rain was on its way. No shit Sherlock we started to get dripped on and then it got progressively harder and harder - I think it is fair to say I was wet through to my knickers!!
John text to see if we needed rescuing but we were on our way back and the rain was hard but short lived thankfully and as we approached Arodes it became brighter. The landscape now looks so beautiful and fresh and green. It was at this point that I had had to dispense with my glasses so couldn't really see and my hands were wet so couldn't really use my phone so we ended up returning to our starting point on a different route than I had planned - I am not sure that this walk was quite as strenuous as Liselotte normally tackles but we did have a bit of off roading and we had one hell of a steep hill and ultimately managed nearly 10km even though the weather was against us.
On my return the goats were in the estate - they were being driven down from Ollie and Trish's at 6B towards Sonia's at 1a - thankfully they didn't seem interested in any of the front gardens - good news for Sonia who has recently planted up a nice area on her drive!!
