A very very hot day

It was a blooming blooming hot day today and being out in that heat looking for a tile was not really a great thing to do but we wanted one to fit on top of our outside table because the sun and the weather has meant that it has a dip in it and so it isn't safe to put a glass down on it.  We had gone to G&Ps in Chlorakas because they always have a wide selection of odd tiles at a reasonable price.  In the past we have always dealt with Angela there but we learned today that she has left and is now running a cleaning business.  Good for her but a bit of a shame for us because she always gave us such excellent service.

We had other 'stuff' to do down in Paphos and we had hoped to squeeze in a surprise visit to Mum before she went out for lunch.  She was not expecting to see us today and so was pleased when we pitched up and had a coffee with her.  She was off to a charity event with Lilian which included entertainment and lunch.  When we left her we called into Lidl on the lookout for a couple of things we had seen in the magazine and picked up a couple of small pizzas to keep the wolf from the door.

We pulled in off the road at Banana Bay to sit and eat our pizza - I think this is what John classes as taking me out for a meal nowadays that things have got so much more expensive!  At least I did not have to show a Safe Pass nor wear my mask which was a blessing!!!  On that note more restrictions are coming into place on Friday with regard to having a Safe Pass and there are rumours that we may have another lockdown in August.

Once home I did some remedial work to my Gardenia which was a gift from John's Mum.  It had been doing well until I decided to move it so that it got a bit of light from one of the windows but the sun came through and scorched the leaves badly.  I decided to give it a good old repotting and some TLC and a cut back and hopefully it will buck its ideas up.  It was so beautiful when it was in flower last year and I have tried so hard to keep it looking healthy I am a bit gutted really.

John gave the solar and PV panels a wash today - I thought he was crazy to be up on the roof in the sun but he said there was a nice breeze up there and he wanted to evict some pigeons that sound like they are trying to nest underneath them.

We spent the afternoon and evening trying to keep ourselves awake enough to watch the BIG FOOTBALL MATCH but in the end resorted to watching it on John's Ipad in bed.  England beat Denmark (sorry Liselotte) and will be in the Euro 2021 final on Sunday.  Apparently the first time in 55 years or so that they have managed to get that far in a major competition.  That'll be my Sunday evening sorted then!
