Liselotte is back and so we were walking this morning. It was a hot one and so I was glad when she agreed to meet early and not to tackle anything too strenuous - I had mapped out a walk in Kathikas which was just under 10k and thought that would be ideal. We met early morning at the carpark and started our walk. Just as we were leaving the village we had two little ginger and white kittens bound up to say hello followed by Mum and a third black and white kitten. They clearly were being looked after by someone as Mum looked quite fit and healthy for having recently had a litter and the kittens were bright eyed and bushy tailed and super cute.
I had ensured that our walk took in the Kathikas Nature Trail because just before Liselotte went away we had noticed that it had been cleared and she was keen to walk it - it splits into two walks - one of which goes along the side of the donkey sanctuary but then doesn't really link up with anything else so it is difficult to make it circular the other bit can be tacked on to one of the many walks we do around Kathikas and I had two in mind - depending on how hot it became. Anyway at this point of the trail you get an amazing view down to the coast before you veer off to the left and up towards the rocks you can see in the top left corner. This first part of the ascent isn't too bad because you go up and across but as you turn the corner around these rocks the next part is pretty much straight uphill but there is a bench at the top. Liselotte must not have been feeling hike-fit because even she was happy to sit on that bench, have a drink, catch her breath and admire the view.
On my return it was all hands to the sewing machine as John was keen to create his mega-shade for outside the kitchen door - an area we use more than anywhere in the garden because it gets sun nearly all year round. He has come up with a way of creating sails and I am just the lackey on this job (when am I not?). It was my job to construct the sails out of some tablecloths which are made from nice sturdy cotton material. Only trouble is that they are cheap and therefore only about 180 x 140 - you could hold several of them together and they would all be different sizes.
