We had been quite concerned when Mum was here at the weekend to hear the Klaus had been unwell. I was quite surprised I had not heard from Sheila (seen in the photograph with Klaus at her 70th birthday several years ago) as she will normally drop me a line to tell me if something is amiss. Anyway I text her and she rang me back and we arranged to pop in and see them. Something had got a bit lost in translation with Mum and so we were really pleased to see both Klaus and Sheila looking well when we arrived. Granted Klaus has had some issues with his blood but his recent trip to hospital was simply belt and braces to ensure his regular 'infusions' were not having any adverse effect on his heart. They have both lost weight and Klaus told us he was doing a regular 9-10km walk every day on the flat which is obviously helping. We stayed and had a catch up and cold drink with them and went away feeling relieved that there was nothing to worry about. Their move last year to Goudi was such a positive one for them.
There was a car parked outside 8a this morning and John took some rubbish out to the bin and the owner engaged him in conversation as he wanted to know if we lived here. His name was Pete and he was waiting for the guy from A20 to show him round. I little later on I went out to put something in the car and he came across to tell me he was going to be our new neighbour! He had put in an offer on the house and after a bit of haggling had had it accepted. He will be moving in with his wife Gail who is currently stuck in the UK with Covid and their little dog Hector. He seemed a nice enough guy - he said they were looking for somewhere quiet to live with like minded people. He might have changed his mind if he had happened upon Das practicing for a Gig!!
This afternoon John had an appointment at the dentist because he had lost the filling from his front tooth whilst eating a bowl of cornflakes!!!! Anyway the lovely Dr Harris sorted him out and even better said that the previous filling should have lasted longer and so there was nothing to pay which was a bit of a result because my upcoming dental treatment is going to wipe out our allowance from the Insurance policy for the next sixth months or so.
With teeth fixed we quickly popped into Mum's as John had managed to get some proper chain to properly elongate the control chains on her sun room fans which were to replace the hangman nooses she had fashioned out of some string. Mum was not there when we pitched up so we just did the job and left. It was another very hot day so we were glad to be making our way back home and to the pool.
