Date night...

This is the sum total of the grapes our vine has produced this year - I do not think we will be a threat to any of the wine producers nearby.  To be fair we simply grow the vine for shade so it is never pruned correctly nor do we use chemicals on it but this was a cutting from a vine we grew in the UK when we were in married quarters and it used to produce loads and loads of grapes!!!

We had spent the morning shopping which was quite hard work as it was really hot again today and we have to wear masks.  Whilst we were out I noticed that there was a severe weather warning in place - not for hot weather but for extreme thunderstorms, high winds and hail!!!  Last night there had been rain in Polemi and on our way home we could see that there was a storm sitting over the hills to the right of us.  We thought we should keep an eye on its progress because we had decided to take down the shade outside the kitchen if it was heading our way.  As it happens the wind actually blew it down towards the coast and it missed us and we didn't actually see or hear any reports of thunderstorms.

We had planned a quiet day so John settled down to watch the Test cricket and I did a bit of art for this week's challenge which is feathers.  Now that people are less restricted in their movement and socialising there have been less entries but there are still some people who contribute every week.  To make it easier not all entries have to have been created during the week, people can also submit an existing piece of work and in this instance I added to an existing picture which I had done when the subject matter was hats.

We briefly caught up with Nicky and Mark before we embarked on our date night supper which was fillet steak from the butchers with a mustard sauce with paprika 'chips' onion rings and peas.  Nicky and Mark have had a busy week which included Nicky photographing a wedding which is something she used to do regularly but has not done for ages.  She said it was great to get back to doing it and she may even consider making it a regular feature in her life again.

Our supper was superb.  I really cannot fault the steak we got from Naz which was local fillet at a very reasonable price.  It was tender and tasty and we both enjoyed sitting outside in the cool of the evening.  We had planned a film but to be honest we were both knackered so we ended up watching an episode of Who Do You Think You Are? before retiring to bed and the vagaries of the new aircon unit which we hope we had programmed to come on automatically and go off automatically!
