Looking back at the post written the day after our anniversary I could see that it didn't make sense - the final video which was of Lakis singing and Das playing the bazouki had somehow been substituted with the one of John and I having our picnic the morning of our anniversary. So not wishing to deny Lakis his moment of fame and wanting to remember that magical moment when he is smiling and singing I have posted it today albeit about 3 weeks' late!
We have Mum coming up for lunch today, on her own this week, and John went out to clean off the outside dining table when he found evidence that we had a lean green poo-ing machine up in the vine. It took a while to locate the offender but we did and he/she was a fine specimen. We had received a text yesterday that Melanie, Simon and the girls would call in for a coffee and stay to see Nanny Mo so we decided to temporarily house the LGPM in a plastic container for the girls to see before putting it back somewhere safe.
This proved to be a great idea as the girls Melanie, Jasmine and Frances were fascinated and there was huge excitement when it relaxed enough to start eating and then even more excitement when they discovered the size and shape of its poo!!!! Melanie studied as a marine biologist so is interested in nature whether in or out of the sea. She was disappointed not to have seen the actual moment of defection (weirdly) but we reckoned that she would probably be able to find a video showing the same on YouTube!!! The girls toyed with the idea of taking the caterpillar back to Tala and giving it a home on their vine there but in the end we decided it would be kinder and safer to put it back on familiar territory so it could continue its lifecycle here.
Mum arrived safe and sound and caught up with the Rogers who we haven't seen for the best part of a year when they came for Sunday lunch and Melanie brought an apple crumble with her. I have now been able to return the dish and a slightly singed tea towel but not the cork mat she brought it on because I had put all three items into the oven for safe keeping and then forgot and put the oven on pre-heat one day only to smell burning before I rescued the dish and tea towel.
The heat wave continues and I am so grateful we made the decision to have the air conditioning. We have mastered the timer now and the amount of time - we are definitely sleeping better.
