Today John and Stan were spending the majority of the day at Minthis Hills having their annual golf challenge. Since they played two years ago the course has been upgraded and whereas last time they played a temporary nine holes twice for their round today they did the 18 holes proper and absolutely loved it.The boys started their adventure with brunch at the beautiful clubhouse. The photographs which they took just show how absolutely stunning this place is. The staff were brilliant - first of all they managed to book them in as a two and not a four (with two strangers) which obviously suited them better and the guys in the caddy shack got them a buggy and got them off and playing earlier than anticipated which was good as it was a very hot day.
They were playing for the Droushia Holiday Golf Challenge golf coaster - a prestigious and little known trophy which will, for the next 12 months be housed chez-nous as John was victorious on this occasion.
I was so glad they had a good time because both John and Stan seem to spend the majority of their time over-run by females and so for them today it was a chance to have some male bonding!!! They really seemed to enjoy themselves so the cost was really academic - they deserved it.
We girlies had a day doing a bit of retail therapy although it wasn't really overly successful because John's Mum was hoping to find some nice Christmas decorations and we were probably a few weeks to early for some shops and a few days too early for Jumbos as they have just started putting out their stock.
We then went and had a look at the Gift Finder next to Arabica which had some interesting stuff but nothing different enough or Christmassy for Janet and Jackie.
We then nipped to Jumbos where they did pick up a few bits and pieces but nothing earth shattering but we did go into Chrysanthou shoes because I wanted a second pair like the ones I brought last time for a massive €8.90. They were now reduced to €4.90 and I managed to get one pair and Jackie managed to get two!!!!!
We called in to Tavernaki on the way back home because I knew we would all be able to chose something from the menu and our set meal was only 10 euros a head. For the money it was great even though Janet couldn't get over the size of the half chicken she ordered!!! She is struggling with the size of the meals - we just tell her not to worry and just leave what she doesn't want or take it home with her. Stan will be benefiting from the left over chicken in a sandwich later no doubt!!!
We managed to shoot across to the Garden Centre at Agia Marina about 15 minutes before it closed but it was time enough to grab a refreshing drink from their new tea shop (fabulous mango smoothie for me) and to get a new plant for the garden. I shall have to look up the name and give you more information on that tomorrow when I can snap it with my app.
