We were up early this morning because I wanted to get down to see Dr Manolis as soon as possible because we were meeting up with John's old school friend Sue and her husband Neil down in Paphos providing everything went ok. There was only one person in front of me so I didn't have to wait long before going in to speak to Dr Manolis who was visibly relieved to see that the rash had subsided. He told me that he hadn't wanted to worry me over the weekend but he had thought that my symptoms might have indicated that it was Lupus and I didn't want that - how right was he? Anyway he couldn't actually pinpoint what might have caused such a violent reaction but he was 100% sure it wasn't Lupus so told me to finish my course of steroids and keep an eye on things and hopefully that would be that save for the fact that I have my appointment with the cardiologist on Wednesday.
I felt much happier as we made our way down to the Ivi Mare via Arabica for a sausage butty. We got to the hotel just before 10.00am and wandered in to have a nosey as this is a relatively new addition to Paphos. It is a smallish adults-only all inclusive hotel which Sue and Neil had chosen when their original holiday to Turkey had been cancelled by TUI. They are not normally all-inclusive types but the extra money for all their drinks and food was a no-brainer and they were still happy to go out and about and try something new.
What a great couple - we really enjoyed their company. They were more than happy to take part in one of Yiannis' Tours which took them along the coast away from the hotels and then up into Peyia where we stopped at Green Hills for the obligatory tourist shot with the view behind and then on and up into Kathikas where we stopped at the winery to replenish stocks and for our guests to do the wine tasting.
We then took a slow drive through the villages of Arodes and Inea before stopping at the Droushia Heights where we sat on a very sunny terrace for a drink before going down the hill to Latchi where we had planned to have lunch.
We took a walk around the harbour in Latchi before stopping at Molos for a light lunch as Sue and Neil were booked in for a Greek Night at their hotel later this evening. Sue got a chance to try a traditional Brandy Sour and decided that was going to be her drink here from now on! The four of us all had a steak baguettes with chips and salad and they were probably the best we have ever had there and we have to thank Sue and Neil for paying for our meals.
We returned to ours so that they could have a nosey at where we live and the house and garden before one last stop off before returning them to their hotel - Neil is a gin lover so where else would we go but Kathikas Gin Bar which he loved. Our day went all too quickly with them. We never struggled for something to say, had a lot of laughs, some great food and drink before I drove back to Paphos to the Ivi Mare.
I know John was chuffed to bits to have his old school friend look him up and want to see him - it really was quite a special day.
