A special table for a special meal

This morning I had to be up early to go down to the Doctors to have some blood tests done.  The Cardiologist wants to rule out any contributory factors to my heart issue.  Today it was thyroid and cholesterol - to be honest it will come as no surprise if my cholesterol is not as it should be - I remember 30-odd years ago when Dad had his heart attacks we were all tested and mine was high then.  Statins were new(ish) then and not without some nasty side effects so I took them for a while but then didn't.  Anyway if I need to again I will - I reckon 30 years later there will be much more information about side effects.

We had organised to meet up with Di and Rob this evening JJ&S had been asking after them and we just thought it would be a nice surprise to go out this evening and for them to join us.  When we had been to Yiallos the other day we had seen their new 'special' table (Table 100) which we decided to book because you are away from the Great Unwashed but in daylight you still get a really nice view down the coast towards Pomos although you are not right on the beach.  We had opted to go early to catch the view in daylight.  Our guests were a bit puzzled by the spare seats but we left them guessing.

We had arrived early to make the most of the view and the atmosphere and it was lovely.  John was concerned that because we were out on a limb we might have to do a bit of waving to get service but this never happened - if anything we got the best service as two waiters were constantly looking across to make sure we had everything that we needed without being in our faces.

It was lovely to see Di and Rob - it has been ages no other reason but health and visitors have conspired against us.  They arrived to be able to enjoy the last of the daylight and to catch up with JJ&S.  It was lovely to be slightly detached from the rest of the diners.  Nakis came over to say Hi and to make sure we were okay and then after we had ordered he sent salad and bread and dips and courgette and eggs on the house and they were delicious.

We all had a really lovely meal.  There was a warm wind so although it is now most definitely much cooler at night it wasn't uncomfortable and we had warned people so that they dressed appropriately.  Our guests holiday is coming to an end and despite all the illnesses we have tried to do our best.  Sadly today Jackie is feeling a bit under the weather with a cold on the way.
