What a day!!!

Today was one of those magical happy accident sort of days which just makes you feel warm and fuzzy.  John had read on social media that a turtle had been spotted swimming around the harbour at St George's and so decided it would be a nice trip out with JJ&S as their holiday is nearing its end and he didn't think that Jackie and Stan had been there before.  It is beautiful and the weather conditions today meant that it looked absolutely stunning.

We had not walked very far along by the boats before we were blessed with a close up view of a very very large turtle - it was magnificent and quite the largest we have ever seen up close.  There was a family of holidaymakers stood near us that could not believe their eyes - we were all mesmerized by this graceful creature.

Even more exciting, and not very clear from this photograph, was the fact that there was not one but two of these turtles swimming together - we saw them both but sadly I wasn't near enough or quick enough to get a shot when they both had their heads above water but you can see the shadow of the second one behind the one which has surfaced.

We could have stood watching these two for hours but it was quite windy down by the boats so we wandered back to the beach bar so that we could have a cold drink before making our way back up to the restaurant at the top for a spot of lunch.  This is a fish taverna, Jackie was able to go and see the fish so she could look at the varieties whose names she did not recognise.  We opted to eat inside because it really was windy and we didn't want our food to go cold.  We all had fish - it was a nice light lunch and we had all really enjoyed this impromptu trip and the turtles.

I know Jackie had not been feeling 100 per cent when we set off so we hoped that the wind blowing away the cobwebs, the excitement of the turtles and some lovely fresh fish would go some way to making her feel better.  I really cannot believe how unlucky we have all been this holiday.  Neither John nor I are completely over what we had and think it will be a few more days before we begin to feel anything like back to normal.

We finished off our trip out with an ice-cream at the Prodromi parlour and sat watching what looked like some dodgy drugs dealing going on across the road but which was actually a guy selling fresh Kleftiko from his Heath Robinson oven on wheels.  He was obviously a regular fixture there on a Friday as several people stopped to buy.  I asked him how much and a portion is 10 euros!

I had to go to the Doctors to pick up my blood test results - no great surprises - thankfully the thyroid one was completely normal - the cholesterol one not so but that comes as no great surprise - I am guessing I will be prescribed statins but if this helps whatever it is that they have found from the ECGs it will be a small price to pay.  Stress Test is next Thursday - I hope my breathing has improved by then.
