Goodbye to Family

Today we say goodbye to Janet, Jackie and Stan - we have made the best of a holiday which has been disrupted by illness.  John went off early this morning to go and pick up anything which needed to be removed from their holiday home - whilst he was away I tackled a massive bag of black eyed beans which had been a present from Bassam.  Jackie wanted to take some with her along with the cheese and the dates which we had already packed up for her.

The other thing John did was to go back and see Giorgos and Nikki from the Corner House to put down a deposit for JJ&A's next holiday - they have decided to come and stay in the village which I think will give them a completely different experience and it will be lovely for them to wander up to us and for us to wander down to them and no car having to be involved.  We are excited and I think they are excited - they just have to get this trip over and done with first and I know they are not looking forward to the flight back.

Stan had been so impressed by our Sunday Lunch at the Farmyard last week that he had put in a request to go back today which we did and Mum drove up to meet us there.  The lunch is incredible value for money - this is a my plate from the salad bar and that is just my starter!!!  I could have had soup as well.  I think we all plumped for the beef this week and were careful not to overface ourselves particularly because no-one wants to sit on a plane for five hours with indigestion!!  Whilst there Stan has already put in his chit for Sunday lunch again next year - we have noted that down!

We had heard that it was chaos at the airport so our guests were happy to get changed and get off because they knew that there was a name misspelt on one piece of paper that might need to be rectified and to be honest there is little point just sitting here waiting for the clock to tick down.  It was a good move - not least because there was a bit of a delay getting to the airport because John got nabbed by the police after leaving the motorway.  Apparently they were hiding in a bush and he had adhered to the speed limit all the way up until that point!

We know that they got home safely and that it was indeed chaos at the airport.
