I have a constant companion in Fred, Mum's cat. In the evenings he likes to haul his bulk onto my lap, which I have to cover with his blinkie to avoid him clawing my legs when he pads. He loves attention but boy he is hot and weighs a ton even though Mum has him on a strict diet. We have no idea how old he is because he arrived without a tooth in his head but we thought he was quite elderly when Dad died and that was three year's ago! Anyway I snapped this photograph of Fred to provide some inspiration because this weeks' art challenge is Cushions. I will let it run for two weeks like the last one as that makes it much easier for me to administer what with the hospital visits and visitors etc.
We had our regular early morning trip to the hospital today. I was lucky to be able to grab a parking spot after my second turn around the larger car park which was good and when we got to the clinic there was no-one waiting outside so we went straight in and there was no-one waiting inside for a dressing change so went straight in for that too.
The latest dressing took some persuading to come off - I know that was painful for Mum particularly as on the area where there had been a massive pocket of old blood the skin came off with the bandage. Fortunately this revealed good healthy healing skin underneath. Demetri and Lena were both in attendance and they were both very pleased (if not a little surprised) at how well Mum is healing given that the state of her skin is generally poor. She still has some rather black and blue bruises and swelling around the ankle but this is also subsiding. We know that Mum has an iron deficiency and that does not help with her propensity to bruise so she agreed today that some iron tablets might not be a bad idea and the pharmacist came up with some which were Iron and other vitamins and so Mum can just substitute these for her vitamin B tablets so she isn't taking yet another tablet. We got a three month supply so that hopefully she will see a difference after that period of time.
I did not manage to get Mum's aircon leak fixed today as the guy did not have enough time but he said it was only small so there was no rush to get it done so I will leave that until things are less hectic. I made my way back home driving along Banana Bay which is and always has been a favourite spot - the sea is always changing here and as I said before there is quite a dangerous rip-tide if you are planning to swim.
We rounded off the evening with what is fast becoming one of our favourite suppers - some of Shuks pork koftas which I pimp up with some piri-piri spices, oven wedge chippy things which smokey paprika coating and a nice salad. Perfect!
