We have different approaches to breakfast!

I was having one of my rare nights at home last night and so this morning John and I were having something of a bake-off.  John gets these food videos delivered to his I-Pad and they invariable include cheese in some form or another!  He will watch one and then declare that "You Must Watch This!!! to which I will respond "Does It Include Cheese?".

This morning he wanted to try his hand at a sort of breakfast omelette squashed between a top and bottom wrap or fajita - he didn't have wraps or fajitas so used two greek pittas which for me was far too much bread (I am not a lover of vast amounts of bread).  Anyway this concoction had cheese, ham, onion, peppers and lots of cheese and he said it was very nice but conceded that there was indeed too much bread.

This was my take on a baked egg which we called Sunshine on a Plate.  I had onion, peppers, basil, mozzarella and egg in mine - NO BREAD and although I didn't bake it in the oven I put the lid on the pan so that the egg would be cooked and set but still runny and it was absolutely bloody delicious!  It set me up perfectly for the day.

This afternoon we decided to walk into the village via the cemetery and to check the post.  On Thursday it is John's birthday and it would have been my Dad's 90th and I think my Uncle David will be 89.  We had booked to go and stay overnight at the Almyra in Paphos which was a 30th Wedding Anniversary present from Mum and Lilian (they won it in a raffle!).  Obviously with things as they stand we had to forego the pleasure and will have to rearrange for a night when John's Mum, Jackie and Stan have returned to the UK.  I was a bit disappointed but we realised that we just wouldn't be able to relax and enjoy.  So as I am taking Mum to the hospital on Thursday morning we decided to go to the cemetery today.  There was a very strange sky walking in - a stream of cloud which just went on and on - so much I couldn't capture it on camera - I am sure those in the know would be able to tell you what sort of weather produces these clouds.

Everything was fine at the cemetery - one of the plants in the trough at the end of Dad's has gone crispy but the other two look to have put on new growth.  I shall leave things as they are until it really cools down and replace if I need to.  John gave everything a swill down and I made a mental note (AGAIN) that I must come down and redo the lettering with the permanent markers I have purchased for that job.

The Post Office was shut so a bit disappointed John suggested we go have a drink in Stathmos now called Palates as a bit of a birthday celebration.  Bambos's son Spiros was very apologetic that the Leon they had wasn't cold but John said he didn't mind - he didn't really want anything else so thinking outside the box Spiros served it in a champagne bucket with ice!  That lad will go far.

We haven't sat under the vines for absolutely ages and it was nice to do so and watch the world go by.  I am back down to Mums tomorrow ready for the hospital trip the following morning - we are taking her and Lilian out for a meal.  Poor John's early birthday celebrations will be spent with 3 old birds with a combined age of about 220!  It's a good job he is so kind and patient with everyone!!
