So I was mega depressed this morning to wake up and see I had broken out in even more hives and the hives I had were growing. I was really glad I had managed to get my wedding ring off yesterday because I could not bend my fingers they had swollen so badly. I had a cry because this had just got too much for me and actually I was beginning to get a bit worried. John suggested that we really should go to the doctor just to be on the safe side and after my early morning medicinal plunge into our rapidly cooling swimming pool I had to agree with him because not only were my patches worse but I was hot and shaky and feeling crap.
We arrived at the Doctors and John dropped me off so he could go and pick up our old Nursing Chair which had been reupholstered. It can be seen in the picture in all its glory.Anyway there was only one person in front of me at the Doctors so I didn't have to wait too long. I think it is fair to say that Dr Manolis was stumped so decided to do all sorts of tests to rule things out because sometimes allergic reactions can be triggered by a bad liver apparently and then he decided to do an ECG for some reason. It was fun and games with the ECG (and I am glad I had my best undies on for this adventure) because the guy kept doing whatever he needed to do but the machine did not - eventually he realised that there was a paper jam and then millions of print outs started spewing out!!
So Dr Manolis was a bit unhappy with the ECG and told me to return in the afternoon when the blood test results would be ready and he would take a second ECG just to make sure the first one was correct. He then prescribed me a course of steroids, some other anti-histamines and told me to take paracetamol regularly for the fever as I had a temperature.
I was so fed up. I hate being ill and I really fell that poor Janet, Jackie and Stan have had a dismal holiday so far and they are half way through.
The plan today was for the boys to go to Marios to use the driving range in preparation for their proper round of golf which is on Tuesday at Minthis Hills. I was taking Janet and Jackie to the Mall and having dosed myself up I decided I could still do it and so we carried on as planned. Janet and Jackie had a chance to have a look at what Jumbos had to offer - can you believe they were stocking up with Christmas Decorations on the last day of September??? I don't think Jumbos is going to get rich on the amount that they spent but I am delighted to report I got the most comfortable pair of shoes in the sale at Chrysanthou and they were less than 9 euros!
We dropped JJ&S back to Polis as I was going home for a sleep before seeing the doctor and then we had arranged to have a meze in the village (with souvlaki and chips for Janet).
I had two hours sleep and then we went back to see Dr Manolis. Fortunately my blood tests were perfect but the second ECG was the same as the first so apparently there is an issue and I have to see a cardiologist - the appointment is Wednesday in Paphos. Dr Manolis asked if he could take photographs of the rash and sent them directly to a dermatologist whilst I was there. He told me that I must take the steroids as directed and if there was any change, particularly in my breathing I was to go to A&E immediately which was a tad worrying and he wanted to see me again on Monday to check progress.
