Bye Bye Neighbours - Until the Next Time!

It was another grey and wet start to the morning - it is as if the island is sad that our neighbours are leaving!  We had planned an early start because there have been some real horror stories about the amount of people at Paphos Airport.  John's Mum can confirm that it was chaos on Sunday but we were hopeful that, because the flight was today and today was a Monday and it was a lunchtime flight rather than an evening one, it might be less of a bun fight.  Lakis and Argy had suggested breakfast before flying which was a great idea because during the course of the morning Lakis got a text from EasyJet to say that sandwiches etc would not be available on the flight.

We had suggested Haris Bar in Peyia.  We arrived when it was relatively empty but by the time we were ready to leave it was full.  They were impressed with the food which was good.  I should have followed Argy's lead and had a mini breakfast because my full English proved too much for me!!!  I have to say I really enjoyed it and although we ate early we didn't need anything much for the rest of the day and it is very reasonably priced although we didn't have to pay today - that was our reward for doing the airport run.

We got to airport approach road with plenty of time to spare so we stopped at Bona Mare for a drink before tackling the airport proper.  It was a bright and blustery day with a warm wind coming in off of the sea.  We know that Lakis feels the cold so we didn't hang about for too long and I think they were keen to get into the airport and checked in and sat down in the departure lounge.  Fortunately the airport was much quieter than of late so they got through quickly and without any issues.

We did a flying visit into Jumbos for a couple of bits and pieces - it is fair to say that the shop is ready for Christmas as the whole of the first couple of aisles are packed to the gunnels with everything festive.   I really only wanted a new gun for my hose but as always we picked up several other items.  It was quiet in there thankfully but I have to say I really dont like shopping in a mask and so we were in and out in record time.

I spent the afternoon cleaning up the roof terrace and cutting back some of the clock vine which is now past its best.  One of the things I got in Jumbos was a rug - it is made of leather scraps so is fine for being outside.  We are thinking about things we can do to improve this space - it would look nice with some more green but because there is no easy way of getting water up there the fern is artificial.  Still it probably wont be too many more years and we wont be nimble enough to get up there so it is probably fine like it is!
