The morning was promising. I had suggested to Nicky that we try and squeeze in a walk this morning as I was due to go to the Garden Centre with Di lunchtime. Anyway we set off earlier than planned which ended up to be a wise decision. It was bitterly cold - enough to make your eyes water but we were all togged up and raring to go.
We kept to our usual route because we knew by doing do we could be rescued without getting too wet if it started to rain. As we walked down towards Arodes we passed several fields where the old boys were out cutting off the unwanted vine growth - backbreaking work and hard on your hands on a day like today.
Nicky was dressed like Nanook of the North which meant that her regular comfort break was a bit exciting particularly as the wind was blowing hard which made it difficult for her to retain her modesty!!! Anyway she managed and even avoided her footwear I believe!!
As we returned home I was just walking down our path when the first drops of rain started to fall and they heralded a bloody great horrible storm which lasted for the remainder of the day and well into the night.
As I said the weather turned foul. It chucked it down for hours and the temperature dropped and it was bitterly cold. People just don't believe it gets cold but it does and when it does it is grim. I am not sure that they forecast snow earlier this week but apparently we may have that to look forward to tomorrow.
This was the temperature in our bedroom at lunchtime when I went in to make the bed because the cats had finally got off. 9 degrees - NINE WHOLE DEGREES - whoopy do!!!! John stayed up this evening to watch the Mighty Blades and put the heater on in the bedroom for me and it raised it to a heady 14 degrees which felt positively balmy!!
We had the fire lit and the lounge nice and toasty warm and settled down to some TV before John watched the footie and I went to bed. Mr Boo was clearly very comfortable with the ambience!!!
I am up early tomorrow - quick trip down to Polis to see the dermatologist and then I am going down to see Mum providing that the weather bucks its ideas up.
The Mighty Blades went 2 up and then very nearly threw it all away. I didn't need to have watched or even have the score come up on my tablet - I could hear John berating the team and the manager!
