Today was another bright and breezy day - probably our last for a while which is a bit of a bugger because I was due to be going out with Di tomorrow to the Garden Centre - a trip which we had postponed from last week. It may well have been sunny outside this morning but Miss Minnie had made herself well comfy on our bed tucked up in John's pyjama top!
We had a slow start to the morning - John was taking Lakis's car to get its MOT and I had been invited to have a coffee with Sonia. I took a little turn around the garden this morning. It is actually looking quite nice even though we have had some wild weather. The bottle brush (a gift from John's Mum) is looking fabulous in full flower. My tidy up the other week has helped and miraculously at the moment we don't seem to have many weeds coming up through the shingle.
The estate was looking pretty tidy this morning - as you can see we had a fabulous blue sky but the temperatures have really dipped and are due to dip further. Uncle Stan it really does get cold in Droushia - I know you don't believe us.
I spent a very pleasant hour or so at Sonia's. She is a fascinating person and I really enjoy our chats together even though today it centred around murder and serial killers as I was telling her about some of the series we had been watching. I hadn't realised she has an android TV box because I know she is a great reader and radio listener. I asked her what plans she had for the coming year. She says she wants to get out more with her camera and to explore her surroundings. I remember asking her the same question almost exactly two years' ago when we assembled at Finnikas in the Village for a farewell meal with Stacey and I remember Sonia saying "I am going to buy that house near you" and eventually she did - the rest as they say is history but I am glad to say it has been a very positive move for her (and for us as we gained another lovely neighbour but this one was permanent).
On my return from Sonia's we took Lakis's car down to Andreas for the MOT. I reckon the Droushia testing station has one of the best views in the world ever and today the sea at the bay was looking an amazing shade of blue and (although you can't see them in this photograph) on the horizon you could see the mountains of Turkey complete with snow on the peaks!!
They said that the car would be ready in a couple of hours so whilst we were waiting John settled down in the conservatory with one of his Christmas books to read and I made some Christmas Cards for Mum as she wanted some which would not cost a fortune to post in the UK if she asks John's Mum to take them back and post them for her.
The book John was reading was one I bought him - it is about great games in Sheffield United's history - surprisingly it is not a thin little book but quite a weighty tome and John kept picking out snippets of information that he though I might find interesting!
Pleased to report that Lakis's car sailed through the MOT which was good news. We went and picked it up and handed over the 35 euros and reported the success back to Camp Kyriakides. Lakis has successfully managed to renew his car tax on line so the car is good to go for a while longer yet.
