A lovely lunch Chez Knips

Today was UK Mothering Sunday now called Mother's Day - it is not Mother's Day in Cyprus, that is Sunday May 8th.  We had not told Mum but we had all been invited to have lunch with Sheila and Klaus today which is fabulous because (a) they are fabulous company and (b) Klaus is a fabulous cook and (c) I don't have to cook so it is a win-win situation.

We pretended to Mum that we were going out somewhere new but needed to call into Klaus and Sheila's en route to drop off something which was actually a box of chocolates and a card as a thank you for hosting us today.  I think we pulled it off - when we got to Sheila and Klaus's Mum made no attempt to get out of the car until we told her that was where we were eating!!!

The clock change has heralded a weather change too - it was wall to wall sunshine today and everything felt that little bit more spring-like.  It was lovely and warm in the Knips' abode and Klaus was busy in the kitchen doing what he does best.  We had a fabulous meal of schnitzel which reminds me so much of my lovely Aunty Margaret and lovely roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese and carrots followed by an apple cake and/or trifle - mmmm mmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

We miss Sheila and Klaus not being in Droushia but we realise that this move was such a positive one for them.  They have a lovely home with a fabulous garden and outlook and non of the responsibility of being home-owners.  They also have a lovely little family of cats which have adopted them and they just seem to be so happy - it's great to see!

Just to give you some idea of how lovely today turned out to be - we had made over 17kw of electricity and were still making when we got home.  This is well over what our house needs to run on a day to day basis so we will soon be back into the black if this continues.  Bearing in  mind what a terrible month March has been so far this was like woo hoo happy days.

Mum returned home safe and sound.  I know she is missing Lilian as her week is looming ahead of her with nothing planned.  John and I will go down and see her during the week but we have quite a lot on so we are juggling our time

We are trying to get the workmen sorted at George and Pam's so that they can enjoy some of their holiday without sharing it with ShipShape.  The internet people are coming tomorrow - we thought for a survey but apparently to install the system.  Bassam is around doing bits and pieces as and when ShipShape allow, the cleaner is due on Wednesday and there is an M&S delivery due too and even with the weather improvement I think the Kailou/Bennetts will still need a duvet on the bed to keep warm.
