It was not cat sick, it was a visit from a Tarantula which was not the biggest I had seen so probably a youngster and definitely not a wolf spider because they are smaller than tarantulas and are less hairy and lighter in colour. It should have been easy to catch. John was armed with a chopping board and a big Tupperware container to contain the spider so it could be released outside. Said Spider had different ideas and shot off to hide under the heavy cabinet which is about to go back outside into the Do-Jo and, having dragged that away from the wall, shot off to hide in amongst the plants that sit under the large mirror. We did eventually capture him/her with the help of the Tupperware and the Chopping Board and deposit across the wall into the field. Excitement over for the morning!!!
John had invited John Wares over this afternoon to watch the League One play off final which involved Sunderland which is John Wares' team - if they were to win (which they did) this would mean some grudge matches between Sunderland and Sheffield United next season, to make matters worse Derek, our new neighbour, is also a Sunderland supporter so there will be some rivalry going on for sure!!! We were having an early lunch of home made pizza (to soak up the beer) before the match and I was being the designated driver to get John Wares back in one piece and free from any nasty encounter with Nigerian War Lords which is who we thought had abducted him the day/evening when he was absent without leave but actually playing golf!
I did some gardening whilst the match was on. I have had a mystery recently where there have been a number of flattened areas under the olive tree. I had put it down to the weather or plants having got a bit top heavy but having found Mr Boo laid out in the border I realise that the flattened areas would have been most definitely Boo shaped - I think he lies there watching the birds - either that or it is a bit cooler for him there after I have done some watering.
I took a break from gardening to go down and see Isabel. She had asked me if I would be kind enough to colour her hair because she is off to meet and old friend tomorrow in Paphos and then her son and his family will be coming to stay. I normally do it for her - it doesn't take me long as it is only the roots. She says I do a good job but I am always nervous until she texts to tell me that it has been a success. I sat and had a chat with her after the colour had been applied. I am so pleased to see that she is eventually beginning to look more like her old self. She has had an horrendous time with dental treatment that seems to have gone quite badly wrong and caused her all sorts of problems. Sadly she lives in the gated community where no-one goes past and no-one else lives permanently so she spends such an awful lot of time on her own. For the first time ever she has admitted to being lonely so I am pleased that she will be returning to Scotland and her house and her family and friends. I will miss her but this is the right decision.
Mum is coming tomorrow. I have in mind what we will be eating and it is pretty quick to prepare and cook so I didn't have to do anything towards it today which makes a change. Heard from my sister that she had arrived home safe and sound but at the crack of sparrows.
