We have been invited to go and visit Sheila and Klaus for lunch today which I am really looking forward to. We miss them not being in Droushia but recognise that their move to Goudi was probably one of the best things that happened to them and we benefit from regular deliveries of fabulous fresh fruit which they pick from the trees which surround their property.
I wanted to do a couple of things before we set off. The archway over our front path supports an honeysuckle which belongs to our neighbours Gregoris and Dora. It is just about to burst into flower but getting a bit out of control so I just wanted to give it a bit of a haircut to make it look a bit neater. I know that Jan next door is keen to let it come across onto her property because she loves the smell.
We had another important Job that I wanted to get done this morning. I wanted to clear the carport area so that if and when we get our new car I wont be afraid of smacking the car door against a planter. We had inherited two old concrete planters from Mum and Dad and really we didn't have anywhere for them to go so we had them on the car port between us and Gregoris. Sadly we used to forget to water them so there were only some rather pathetic succulents still trying to survive. I tentatively asked Gayle and Pete across the road if they might like them as they are keen gardeners but really expected them to say no. As it happened it was exactly what they were looking for to stop one of their dogs jumping out of the garden and they were thrilled - they must have been because Pete came over immediately to take them off of our hands - I wonder if they thought we might change our minds. Far from it I was really thrilled that these old planters have found a new home with someone who really wanted them. Dad would have been so chuffed.
We had a wonderful lunch with Sheila and Klaus. Klaus is such a fabulous cook - we had an amazing meal of chips, coleslaw, guacamole and battered prawns. Normally John would tell you that he doesn't like guacamole but this was absolutely delicious and he even had seconds. Apparently the secret is some Maggi seasoning that Klaus buys in bulk and bless him he gave me a bottle and some avocados and his recipe so I shall be trying this as soon as they ripen. Klaus and Sheila look amazingly well and bless them they have become confirmed cat lovers as one of their outdoor cats Minnie is fast becoming an indoor cat and she is adorable.
It was so relaxing Chez Knips that we felt we could have stayed all afternoon but we had to get to the vets because he is not going to be there for a few days. He kindly gave us three injections to administer over the weekend. He didn't charge for these because they are all part of Minnie's ongoing treatment and he is happy with us giving them because he realises that she will just get too stressed having to go down to him for treatment. He says he cannot guarantee that her pancreas will recover sufficiently but was pleased to hear that she appears to have made some improvement.
