This picture appeared on a Yeovil Past and Present Facebook site and is of the fire station in Yeovil taken in the early 80s. The row of houses on the right (Cecil Street) led up to Palmers Fish and Chip Shop. This is where I bought my first house Number 15 which was four up from the end. I paid €17K for my little terrace which was my first step on the home ownership ladder. Great memories of that house especially when my bestie Haze moved in to number 13.
We were up early and getting ready for Dip to come for the barbeque we promised him last week but did not have. We had frozen the spiced lamb mince he brought and I had formed it into kofta. We were having that with some pastourmas and local halloumi together with a greek salad (this was my best effort yet) new potatoes and tahini (shop bought) tzaziki (home made) and toasted bread with olive oil and oregano.
We had a lovely afternoon which then stretched into the evening and so we persuaded Dip to stay overnight which he did. It was a great opportunity to have some pretty deep and meaningful conversations about Life, the Universe and Everything. The only thing that would have improved it would have been to have Karen here with us (John's cousin, Dip's partner) so hopefully next time Kaz because I need some girl company.
I always think our garden looks lovely at night with the garden lights on. I think it is fair to say we were all a bit squiffy by the time we called it a day.
