The heat has ramped up and the cats are taking advantage of the breeze coming in through the bedroom window but they would be so much warmer if they didn't touch one another. They will be ok for a while until Mr Boo gets fed up of Charlie's fat backside and they will start niggling with one another which inevitably ends up in a fight. Anyway we are happy we know where they are. They are all struggling a bit with the heat as are we - I am guessing that today will probably turn out to have been the hottest so far this year.
I had nipped out to see if there was any sign of our water bill. I found Marianna in the office but she said that it wouldn't be ready for a while - something to do with a wedding at the weekend which would account for the music and the fireworks and I guess maybe a hangover for whoever reads the meters anyway she did say she would email me when it was ready which would be a first. I shall see! I then popped into see Bassam - he was trying to resurrect an ancient printer/scanner/copier which was struggling under the weight of the layer of dust it was supporting. We couldn't get the paper to feed through. Bassam tipped the printer up to find a lifetime of detritus including a biro and some other less recognisable crap and then after blasting it with the hoover and some WD40 a spring fell out - I left with him taking it to pieces. He later phoned to declare it was dead (I had already told him that) and was off in search of a replacement. On my return John decided to give Kenny a hosedown. Ken looks quite smart when clean and I love that car even with all its bumps and bruises.
After Nicky and I had a nice lunch at Kaponas the other week John and I decided to check it out because it will be an easy place for his Mum, Jackie and Stan to walk to when they are staying as it is straight up the road from them. It was a very pleasant and warm evening and Eleni made us very welcome. Her boys have grown so much since we first met them and although they were typical boys in those days they have actually grown up quite nicely.
I went for moussaka which was the special for the day and I had a meal that would have finished off Desperate Dan - it was huge - the moussaka was really nice and the salad fresh - I like a bit more colour on my chips but they were cooked and to be fair if you are using new potatoes they can be difficult to brown. John had a pork chop which he said was really good too and they brought fresh baklava with a bottle of water and some melon to finish. Whilst we were there several other diners came, all of which appeared to be tourists, we were eating early so it was unlikely to be locals.
We were so stuffed from our food and it was such a lovely evening we decided to take a walk around the village to try and digest our meal. There is a lot of renovation work going on so there is now access to properties which previously weren't visible or accessible before. We think we have seen this house before - we think there was a horse being kept in a field just beyond it but now there is a pathway which takes you to a road beyond.
We waddled like two Weebles back home.
