We had a terrible night's sleep or actually a terrible night with no sleep because there was some sort of celebration happening in the village which involved late music until the early hours of the morning interspersed with what sounded like gun fire but was in fact due to fireworks. We were knackered to say the least so thank goodness we were prepared for Mum and Lilian coming for lunch.
Flushed with the success of the barbeque we did for Mum last time we were doing much the same again today and we sat outside to have our meal even though there were some worrying gusts of wind. I have never known it so windy at this time of the year. We had kebabs and halloumi and pastourma along with salad, coleslaw, Argy's koliva and some boiled new potatoes. It was really lovely.
We had pudding today - we had pears to use up so we made pear and sultana crumble which we had with cream except mum had crumble with her cream!!! All in all a nice meal and it was good to have Lilian up with us before she embarks on a little holiday. Mum is going to miss her dreadfully because Lilian is so good to help fill her time.
Bless Lilian she keeps me supplied with magazines. Woman & Home over here costs €7.99 currently. This magazine always makes me think of my lovely friend Joani - she always had stacks of these at the foot of the stairs in Mewstone House for visitors to enjoy. Mewstone house was an upside down house with the bedrooms downstairs and living accommodation upstairs where you could take advantage of the spectacular view and the amazing light. We had some lovely times there with Roger and Joani but never got to see the house that they moved to more recently. We hope that Roger is ok. I think I will send him a letter in a couple of days. I think it is easier to make sure that you say the right things or at least the things you want to say in the right way when you can sit down and look at what you are writing and take your time.
