I think I have worked out that I should be careful when eating fish as I suffered with heartburn and indigestion throughout the night. It is on the list of things which can aggravate so I will be careful in future - I think a fish meze is probably fish overload for my hiatal hernia!
We have been starting our mornings with an early swim for some exercise. I have found that I fare much better without the wake which John causes. I did my exercise swimming before spending some time just bobbing about enjoying the lovely water and the bright morning sunshine. We wanted to go shopping as we are having Jeff and Marianne over for a meal tomorrow to thank them for giving us some wood which will come in very handy in the winter and as a bit of a celebration with our EU Discrimination Complainant partners in crime!
I had to say goodbye to Vera today and hello to Calvin. Vera Wang Princess was a gift from Argy which I have worn and loved. Calvin Klein Eternity for Women was a gift from Pam which I have sniffed and think I will also love but I can never really smell perfume on me so someone else is going to have to tell me. I generally do well for perfumes as John's mum normally choses something nice for me when she comes over on holiday. We got ourselves a seat outside where we were in the shade and there was a lovely breeze coming up the valley from the sea. It is a lovely place to sit and have a frappe. We asked to look at the menu just as a bit of homework initially but John wondered how I felt about sharing a wrap with him. Actually by then I was feeling hungry and felt I needed to eat something so agreed I would give it a go.
I have to say that the wrap was very nice - the chicken was a massive piece of chicken breast which was not overcooked and the wedges were nicely cooked too. It was very reasonably priced too as were the two frappe so we were pleasantly surprised and will definitely go there again if we are looking for somewhere for a snack.
This wont mean much to most people reading the blog but we had a really spooky experience today.
I asked John to swing by the cemetery to check on Dad's grave because yesterday when John went he told me that they were digging a new grave which is in front of Dad (although it doesn't look like it at this angle). I don't know why but I wanted to see who was going to be his neighbour as Elena's grave is behind him. I hadn't heard any slow church bells and the hole dug was neat and tidy so I made an assumption that this was probably going to be a non-Cypriot funeral.
So during the week Mum had told me that Arthur Benton had passed away. Mum and Dad and Arthur and Janet had been friends having moved to the island 30-odd years ago. Arthur had been very poorly of late - we had been amazed to see him and Dad's funeral because he had had one of many strokes and was struggling with his mobility. Arthur and Janet had lived at Peyia when we first met them but moved around and the last we knew were in Lower Peyia renting a property.
When I checked the name on the new grave it was Arthur Benton - I couldn't believe it because I had no idea they had any connection with Droushia but thought it was rather nice that Dad's new neighbour was someone he had known from almost the very beginning of his and Mum's lives here in Cyprus.
A quite afternoon was followed by a makeshift snack date night supper - mainly because we were still quite full from the wrap we had had earlier and also because I didn't feel like cooking much so we had one of the pieces of fillet steak we had taken out in a steak sandwich and it was absolutely lovely.
