A special day for special friends

I forgot to mention that Argy brought a gift with her last night bless her!  Over the years our cats have gradually wheedled their way into the Kyriakides' affection even though Lakis still does not want to touch any of them or them touch him which is understandable particularly when they are molting!

Actually now they see less of the cats as it has become more difficult for them to negotiate the various walls around the houses and there are now more people, more cats and more dogs for them to encounter plus they are getting older so tend not to venture out quite so far, Minnie certainly not, Charlie a bit and Boris is the most adventurous.

Anyway this was the gift that Argy brought.  I am guessing she found it when she went into the gift shop in Polis on her quest to find someone who might be able to paint a traditional mural on one of her outside walls.  I have put out some feelers but so far been unsuccessful.  It would be a great project for a talented youngster but it is knowing where to find the right person.  Anyway she is in no rush so I am sure at some point someone will turn up.

So today I had notification that I had a parcel to pick up and John and I decided to shoot down to Paphos for the parcel and to go into Lidl and Cycleband before returning home.

We cheated on the way home and took the car into the local garage for a car wash, John having declared it was too hot for him to stand outside and do it.  It was an ok job for 10 euros (inside and out) but it wasn't dried off properly and so as we drove home the droplets formed nice dusty lines down the doors!

We had a Whoop Whoop text mid afternoon to confirm that the deed was done and Nicky and Mark had completed on the sale of Emba so as soon as they were home they came round and we spent time in and around the pool celebrating this long awaited event.  They are now officially retired and can concentrate on getting their home here how they want it.  We are pleased for them as it has been a very stressful few years one way or another - now it is time for them to chill.

As the evening came to a close and we were sitting in the conservatory I looked out through the patio doors and took a photograph.  The garden looked magical.

Although there are very few flowers at the moment we have a good variety of plants with different coloured leaves and even though it is hot they are looking relatively healthy.

I like the spot of light over the dining table which highlights that area nicely.  A different view of our garden from last night when we were up on the roof.  I am glad that we have separated it into different areas as it adds interest and makes it easier to manage because I can concentrate on just one area on the days when I do some gardening.  Actually I really don't spend a huge amount of time just a little each day to keep things under control and a water of the pots every other day (save for the kiwi fruit which is thirsty).

A garden is never finished though so I still have ideas, still have plants I want to buy and still have changes I want to make - but that is my real pleasure so it isn't a hardship!
