This is not my photograph - I was about to take one of the supermoon last night on our walk home when we got caught up in the request for Blood donations and by the time John had finished the moon was too high for it to look anything other than ordinary. This one was taken by someone up our end of the island and you can see that as it was spectacular.Today John was on a boy's jolly in the village with the Bobster, Pete, Richard and Das and I was on one of my regular Billy-No-Mates mornings down in Paphos running errands and visiting my mum. We were going off to sort out her hearing aid that wont charge and to see if we could get a short folding walking stick for her handbag from the shop opposite the hospital.
It was hot and exceptionally humid down in Paphos - I was absolutely leaking by the time I had finished running around - I really struggle with these weather conditions and am then very glad when I escape back to the rarified atmosphere of Droushia!
Mum was ok - she had arranged to catch up with Sandy this afternoon so had a busy day which she likes. Her neighbour Effie is very poorly having had a fall. I saw her today so popped my head in her sunroom to ask how she was. She had a hospital appointment this afternoon but was clearly struggling and in great pain, she indicated she had broken ribs and her arm is in a sling but so so swollen. I offered to take her to the hospital for her appointment but she declined saying she had a taxi arranged. It's a bit sad really as she has a large family around her who could help but she is so fiercely independent she probably turns down any help when it is offered.
I got home before John and managed to get all the shopping put away and all the liver cut up for the cats. Big thanks to Shuks for giving me a free liver this week - the cats will be well happy as I was down to the last box and although we have tried to get them to eat something else Minnie resolutely refuses to entertain anything other than liver.
I had planned to go in for a swim but my arm is still quite painful from the vaccination so I simply sat in the cool and waited for John to put in an appearance. He returned home about 5.30pm having had a great afternoon and they had enjoyed a new venue because this time they had gone to Kaponas as John wants to support all the establishments in the village if he can.
We spent the remainder of the evening sat outside - I think it was the warmest evening we have had so far this year and we are all a bit lethargic as a result!!!
