Today it was our 31st wedding anniversary. Where on earth has that time gone? Our honeymoon was spent in Cyprus at Mum and Dad's maisonette in Chlorakas. Little did we know then that we would end up living on the island ourselves but we are very glad that we do. Today the temperatures in the UK were higher than here and there were horrendous fires as a result.
After a slow start John and I went out for a drive in Mrs Kirby (high days and holidays only!) - we did not have a particular destination in mind, John thought perhaps Pomos but it was getting hot so we cut the drive short and swung by the bit of coast at Agia Marina which used to be a sort of family area with little eateries but which now seems to have been given over for village celebrations. It is interesting there because there is no beach as such - the space between land and sea is like molten rock.
We took a walk along the coast until it became too hot to do so and decided to wend our way back to Polis and grab a coffee before returning home to have a quiet afternoon dipping in and out of the pool before we went across to the 'Largy Restaurant' for a celebratory meal.
We stopped at Venetico for our coffee - they make a good frappe and that was exactly what was required. We managed to get a brolly up and swung round to afford us some shade. We like this place. It is very reasonably priced and has a colourful array of young, hip and very personable waiting staff.
When we got home it was clear by the state of what had been my lovely pillar candle in the conservatory that is was an exceptionally hot day because, let's face it, it was suffering from extreme droop (aren't we all???)So here we are (minus Lakis who was doing the waitering) having our lovely anniversary meal. It was a lovely relaxing evening and to be completely honest far better than going out. We started eating early (5.30pm) and didn't go home until about 5 hours later! Argy had cooked a melt in your mouth beef dish with potatoes, salad, vegetables and dips. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing too and best of all we just chatted and laughed, boy did we laugh! A big thank you for the lovely music which Lakis had chosen which got us all humming along - all in all a great evening, great food and great company.
