As with my previous experiences of vaccination at Polis Hospital it was all very organised and so I pitched up at the vaccination place and waited whilst one other person had their jab before me and then I went in - actually my appointment was 8.45 but they weren't bothered as there was only one other person waiting after me. Currently here they are only doing over 60s or anyone under 60 with a specific medical condition (they have a list) who has been put forward by their GP so John isn't getting his and an article I read yesterday said there were doubts about the necessity to give someone under 60 who is fit and healthy the 4th jab anyway.
I barely felt a thing and got my card stamped and my arm plastered like a badge of honour and then we headed off to Venetico cafe (which is where this photograph is taken) for a light breakfast as my reward, also we were off to Sheila and Klaus's for lunch so didn't want to spoil that because we always have something lovely when we are at theirs.
We have only had a snack at Venetico previously and thought it was very good value. We shared a chicken wrap. Today we decided to investigate the delights of the Cypriot Breakfast which was a combination of bacon, halloumi and egg on toasted sourdough bread with a drizzle of honey and a side salad. We hadn't expected this massive portion - we wonder if this was double for two to share but the price didn't reflect that so we were well happy and it was delicious - certainly something we would try again.
I came back and had a rest before we set off for Sheila and Klaus's. I was feeling fine - just a bit tired from my early start but nothing too much. It was exceptionally hot down in Goudi. Bless them, Sheila and Klaus had ensured that their home was as cool as they could make it. They are in the middle of some upheaval at the moment because the land surrounding their home is being officially split up for inheritance purposes so at the moment their calm oasis is anything but. We are sure though that once the work is done and the landscape around them softens it will be fine, different but fine.
Anyway we had a lovely lunch and time with them. Klaus had done a dish of parmesan chicken with scalloped potatoes and a medley of vegetables in a hoisin and soy sauce which we love anyway. We have penciled in the diary for them to come to us next and have said that if the building works get too bad at any time they can up sticks and visit us for a cuppa.
John wanted a haircut, more than that he needed one as he was beginning to look like a mad professor so we text Christaki the fireman come barber to make sure he was going to be in the village tonight. He was but not until 7pm. This was fine because it was much cooler to walk down and wait - with a drink at Bambos's. Poor Christaki had been fighting fires all day but still came to do local haircuts. He is a really nice guy.
We have weather warnings in place for tomorrow - you can see from the sunset that the weather is going to be hot tomorrow. By the time I went to bed my arm was beginning to throb a bit too.
