Life's a Lottery!

First of all I need to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Di.  We haven't caught up for ages and we weren't seeing her today because their friends Pat and Chris are leaving today after a month's holiday and have to be out of their accommodation early so Di and Rob are having them at their house.  Hopefully we will get to see them soon because before we know it the Summer will be over!

Anyway it was a very pleasant start to the morning.  When Kaye was here she suggested I got a book for mum to read called 'A Man Called Ove' by Fredrik Backman.  I put a shout-out on tintyweb and a lovely lady called Jackie Scivier responded to say she was just reading it and would let me have it when she had finished.  We arranged to meet for coffee at Santa Barbara this morning.  What a great thing to do - it was so relaxing sitting by the sea in the shade chatting to Jackie and Fred who have just recently moved to the island.  Interestingly (or not) we had been in contact two years ago when they were interested in buying a house we were familiar with and which we thought they should avoid!  Anyway they bought in Argaka and six weeks' into their move they are, in the words of McDonalds "Loving It!".

We went to do the little bit of shopping we needed to see us through next week.  We are being very good about menu planning, not being wasteful, eating from the freezer and sticking to a shopping list so what we wanted today was less than 50 euros.  I then had my first foray into a betting shop in Cyprus a predominantly male domain so I didn't hang around - Lakis, Argy, John and I had decided to have a go on the local Lotto just for a laugh.  It is only 50cents a line and I thought I had asked for 4 lines (one each) but this got lost in translation and so I ended up with 8 lines!!!!  Let's hope one of them is a winner.  I have no idea when the draw takes place nor how to check if any of the lines are successful but there is a jackpot of around €50,000 which is not to be sniffed at.

We bought some cherries in Paps today - they were amazing, large, plump, juicy and full of flavour.  We are going to have them for pudding tomorrow when Mum comes up but they are really tempting sitting in the fridge winking at me shouting "eat me, eat me".

We actually went out this evening.  We haven't been out for an evening for absolutely ages but Das had text us to say he was playing at the Gravity Road and would appreciate our support.  We asked Lakis and Argy to come with us and were glad that we did because sadly there was a very poor turn out, in fact if we had not been there when he started he would have been playing to Belinda and one other which is a shame because we enjoyed his set although we didn't stay until the end.
