Out with neighbours

It was another hot day again today.  Sadly my arm is causing me issues.  I can shake it about and do all sorts of weird stuff without a problem and then I go and do something simple like take my pants down to go to the loo and I am in absolutely agony.  I guess that is the nature of a trapped nerve or muscle pull and it is very annoying - John is less than sympathetic - apparently that word appears in the dictionary somewhere between shit and syphilis - his answer is not to do whatever it is that aggravates the problem which is not helpful when it is simply going to the loo.  At one point the same thing happened when I simply tried to open our bedroom door - really??????? how was I to know?

Anyway John went out this morning to catch up with Rob over a coffee in the village.  I stayed at home and had the joy of doing a bit of housework even though it was really hot and my arm was a hindrance.  I started to get the spare room tidied up a bit - there is a pile of ironing that looks something like the north face of the Eiger but I cannot iron in this heat it is just inhumane.  I really need to find someone that wants to meet up for coffee so I can ignore the chores piling up.

We are concerned about Minnie again - we are struggling to find anything that she will eat even though she comes crying for food.  This is like when she was ill with the pancreatitis although we haven't seen her being sick which she was before.  She is such a timid little thing that we try to hold off taking her to the vets if we can possibly help it and the vet seemed to indicate when we took her last time that she might not have survived in his care because she was so traumatised she stopped eating all together.  I have tried everything today, heating the liver which she normally loves, giving her juice from a pouch, trying all the various squeezy treats that she has eaten in the past.  We are hoping it is down to the heat as neither Boris nor Charlie are eating that much at the moment.

So we were out today.  As a thank-you for John rescuing Pete the other week when his car broke down in Paphos, Pete and Gail were taking us out for lunch.  Initially they had suggested Steni but after wasp-gate the other evening we thought it might be wise to try somewhere else so suggested the winery as neither of them had been.  They were well impressed.  As dog lovers they fell in love with the resident dog who follows John around knowing that he will be given a treat - are we the only people without a dog that has a bag of dog treats in the car?

They enjoyed their food, Pete said his prawn pasta dish was outstanding and he even said in his opinion it was up there with Finikas in Polis which is praise indeed.  John took Pete off to taste the wines - Gail is currently not able to drink alcohol because of a medical issue.  We could have sat there in the shade all afternoon because even though it was a hot day it was just lovely sitting outside with a breeze coming up from the coast.  It was a very very nice afternoon, good food and good wine and good company and we think we have introduced Gail and Pete to what will become a regular haunt.  They loved everything about it.

When we returned home we quickly went across to visit Lakis and Argy because they have Argy's old school friend Sotiroula and her husband George staying.  We have met them once before - pre-covid I think and they are good company.  We think they are staying until sometime next week so have promised we will catch up again.
