I had been given a voucher for the spa from John for Christmas and had decided to keep hold of it until J&J were here because I know they like a bit of pampering. I had arranged that we would arrive at around 11.00am and J&J would have the first of their treatments - full body aromatherapy massage. Whilst they were having this done I was going to use the steam room and/or the sauna. Then I was having my first treatment of a full body scrub and J&J could use the steam room/sauna and/or go for a swim or just sit and relax in the fluffy robes they give you and which I am modelling.
I had then booked for lunch and rather than buffet (which tends to have a lot of salad which Janet does not eat) had opted for the a la carte.
After lunch J&J were have a facial and I was going to have a pedicure and gel polish which is something I never do and I was rather embarrassed that my feet looked more like trotters than toes!!!
The Boys were starting with lunch at Minthis and then 18 holes on what was, thankfully, a much cooler day than of late plus they had a buggy. Sadly John pulled something in his back on the 17th and could not complete all 18 holes but by this time Stan had an unassailable lead so it made no difference to the end result and they said they had an amazing day so thanks to the lovely girl who sorted the booking and the guy that is the caddy guy for making it a really great day.
Equally I have to thank Georgia and Rafaela the beauticians who made our day special - nothing was too much trouble and they kept us hydrated with drinks and we went home with nice samples of the products they use. I particularly take my hat of to Rafaela who was charming and she told me that she was the daughter of the man from Inea who was recently killed in an accident with his friend in Stroumbi. She had been married in June and a couple of weeks later lost her dad in what was a bit of a freak accident.
With huge apologies for this rather unflattering but hastily taken photograph of our lunch but I have to say we were really very impressed. I had a lovely wild mushroom risotto, Janet had cod and chips and Jackie a chicken dish with roasted mediterranean vegetables. All freshly cooked, I know because we had to wait for my risotto, and nicely presented and reasonably priced. Even more surprisingly my dish was so hot and remained hot throughout the meal which meant that my risotto did not go cold and stodgy. Cyprus is not renowned for food on hot plates!!!!
I think it is fair to say we all had a lovely day albeit rather tiring. When the Girlies got home we went for a little walk around the village and then I went home to feed the cats (apparently Charlie decided to sleep with Janet and Derek yesterday!). The Boys returned later and John and I went for a drink and nibbles in the garden of the Corner House having first watched the Queen's final journey to London where she will now be laid in State. All very moving scenes.
