Another lovely day today and no powercut which is a bonus!!! My garden doesn't know if it is coming or going as the Hibiscus which were ravaged by last year's winter weather have bloomed, stopped and are now blooming again. They are the most vibrant shade of orange. The seeds from the annuals are sprouting everywhere so we will have a dramatic display of Nigella and Californian Poppies if they survive whatever this winter is going to throw at us. I am still in shorts and flip-flops during the day and, if we are in at night, I do put on some slippers and maybe a hoodie. We were out tonight so John and I were digging out our jeans to be on the safeside.
We had rung the bodywork guy in Terra this morning to find out if Mum's car would be ready and he said after 3pm today so we planned to get done what we wanted to get done this morning and then take her car down to her so she has it for the hairdresser tomorrow. I don't know what it was that we wanted to get done, we didn't do it because we realised it was the second semi final of the T20 in Australia and England were taking on India - always a bit of a grudge match but then aren't they all!!! Anyway it was super exciting and we just sat and watched that instead of any housework or DIY!
We got the car at 3pm - it looked brand new and was being washed and polished. Andreas said that it had been involved in quite a few bumps in the past, he could tell by the layers of stuff on the boot and the back bumper. I remember it going in to be fixed on a couple of occasions previously. Anyway now it is all lovely and shiny and unmarked - for how long lord knows!!!
This evening we were walking down into the village meet up with Sheila and Klaus at Finnikas. They had a hankering for one of Marina and Philippos's meze's which they have not had since they moved out of the village. We were obviously eating indoors and it is too early for the teeny tiny fire in there to be lit so hence the search for jeans. Actually it wasn't too bad in there and it was good to see that during the course of the evening three more tables got filled with diners - holidaymakers in the village.
We had a lovely evening. We always have a laugh with Sheila and Klaus and it was good to catch up before Sheila has to go to hospital for some sort of procedure on her neck. She has had a bit of a time of it over the years with her back and neck so hopefully this is going to sort it out once and for all.
There was, as always, too much food but it was good to have Klaus on our side as he has a good appetite and so we didn't look to have wasted too much. We left armed with gifts from Marina, olives, jam and courgette pies and I had a bag of avocado from Sheila and Klaus to go with mine. I love this sharing environment!
Anyway we hope to catch up with Sheila and Klaus before Christmas if we can - obviously it will depend on her operation and recovery from it.
