Lordos 1 Lunch

This morning I went and watered my neighbour Persephone's plants.  It would appear that the colder weather is killing off the mealy bug as her basil which looked riddled is looking much better.  They also have their magnificent Bird of Paradise plant in flower.  The one in our garden looks like it will follow suit shortly.  It took many years for it to throw out just one of these amazing blooms but now we get flowers two or three times a year.

Boris has found himself a new resting place, John will not be overly impressed as it is on top of Mrs Kirby the Qashqai!  As I was walking back home I could hear his dulcet tones and once I had spied him he beat a hasty retreat.

We were going out for lunch today.  Derek and Jan are nearing the end of their time here and they wanted to fit in another meal at the Stone Lion.  Derek is poorly again so Jan came to borrow mums three legged stick so that he could get up and out of the chair.

Poor Derek has really suffered and it isn't helped by the fact that they are busy renovating the house and in the evenings it is chilly in there.  They have also not been able to get any hot water, well not enough for a shower.  They aren't entirely sure why but some of the problem is that their panels are facing North with the tank behind so when the low sun is moving across it casts a shadow.  They have had Savvas in to have a look but even he hasn't been able to work his magic.  I find it utterly depressing to get into a luke warm shower particularly if I am feeling unwell so I really feel for them.  I am worried that if Derek doesn't get a bit more mobile then he may not even be allowed on the flight home.  I think they would be the first to admit that this visit has not been as successful as they would have hoped.  They still do not have full electricity from their own supply.

We went en masse from Lordos 1 to the Stone Lion in Goudi today.  Gail and Pete took Jan and Derek, Mark and Nicky took me and Richard and Ellen took John.  We did not eat outside, they have put curtains down on the verandah area so we were in there which was very comfortable.  Nicky and Mark had not been there before and were very impressed.  I think this will be on their list of places to go in the future.

I had the spare ribs.  as did a couple of others, a couple had fish and chips, Nicky had the salad and muhamara that I had chosen last time, Derek had pork in a mushroom sauce, John had a massive pork chop.  The food was excellent and everyone enjoyed what they had ordered.  A couple of people even managed a pudding!!!!  It was quite late by the time we set off back home.  Janet suffered from over eating and went home to bed so we asked Derek to join us for a drink which he did and then after an hour or so Jan came in to join him.

We all agreed that it had been a lovely afternoon.  I am so glad that Ellen (Richard's Mum) came along - she is a hoot, I really like her company even though she thinks she is too old to join the young ones - today she was my white wine partner in crime!
