I was having a bit of a tidy in my shed today when I found this. It is a chrysalis of a hawk moth but I don't know which one. It was alive - I know this because as I was trying to take its photograph it wriggled a little. I didn't want it to hatch in the shed - it wouldn't be able to get out so I moved it so that it was underneath the kiwi fruit plant so it could bury itself if it needed to. I am guessing it came in on an brolly when we decided we wouldn't need them out in the garden any more.
I had planned to go to Anna's Workshop in Neo Chorio this morning to make a few more little Christmas Gifts but, I think it is fair to say that, the weather was diabolical. A massive storm raged overhead coming and going for most of the morning and dumping rain and hail the size of golf balls. The temperature had dropped and I busied myself around the house, and into the garden when there was a respite - emptying some of the pots which plants in them otherwise they were going to drown.
John shot off down to Polis to go and get a new battery for Kenny. I looked up on the blog and found that the last one we bought was in 2015 and was 70 euros. It is a sign of the times that the replacement (exactly the same) is now 90 euros. It has been a bit of an expensive time of it for us over the last couple of weeks what with John's tyres and now a new and unexpected battery. Things are exacerbated by the fact that we have visitors and visitors like to go out so we are spending more on that than we would normally expect for November.
I had been in the my shed to get out the winter rugs. Today seemed to be as good a day as any to put them down. The exercise kept me warm, we have a lovely clean tiled floor and the rugs were clean when they were put away so they just got a hoovering and viola we have a cosy conservatory back. With the curtains closed and the rugs in place and the tiny bit of sunshine between showers the temperature in there was about 21 degrees so actually quite pleasant.
We had invited Nicky and Mark over for a drink to catch up. Nicky came with her overlocking machine because I had a couple of bits of sewing that benefited from that amazing machine. She got those done and then we tackled a glass of wine. Mark joined us shortly afterwards - England was playing in the world cup this evening so he left in time to get himself settled.
John and I settled down snuggled up in one of our Christmas throws, swiftly joined by Charlie!!!! We had a short cartoon film to watch before the football - Fireheart - it was just right to pass away the time before kick off which was my cue to go to bed - glad I did and that I missed a 0-0 draw!
