We went down to see Mum today before going for our check up at the Dentists in Peyia. This photograph, taken as we drove along Banana Bay gives no indication as to how rough the sea was or how awful the weather was with thunder and lightning all around. Once again Nicky and I canceled our early morning walk because it was tipping down when we reached the time when we make our decision. As we traveled back towards Droushia you could see black skies all around.
Even when the weather is stormy the views along this bit of the coast are still stunning. They are doing a lot of work here which we think is an extension of the coastal path and if it is this will be lovely. There has been talk for years that this will be the location for a new marina. We hope not because it has always been one of our favourite views.
Everywhere is trimmed up for Christmas - there is a month to go. When Mum and Dad first moved over here Christmas wasn't really celebrated - Easter is the big celebration here. In fact nothing festive appeared in the shops until mid December which was too late for Mum and Dad to send us a card or a present so they used to go and order a crate of satsumas which were shipped over to us. It was so exciting when we received them and it used to smell amazing.
Our visit to the dentist was successful. We both had a clean and polish and praise for our oral hygiene as neither of us have any problems which is great after that bloody painful periodontal treatment that I had previously - still it must have worked because I have no bleeding gums any more.
It's that time of year when we get free reign at picking the pomelo from Effie's garden. They are a bit of a faff but lovely to eat. The skin must be more than a centimeter thick and they have huge rows of pips inside but the flesh is amazing and worth the effort. I prepared one for our supper this evening which was to be left over curry from Monday night.
I was batch cooking this afternoon - soup. I had a load of veggies looking a bit sad so decided to do something with them. This in the picture is an eclectic mix - cucumber, mint, avocado, apple and sweetcorn. The Jury is a bit out on this one - the avocado was a bit under ripe so a bit bitter. I also did a roasted pepper and tomato soup and another one of just root vegetables. As I wont remember which is which I have had to make a note of which went into which bag!
