A vegan night out...

I didn't walk this morning, Nicky and Mark were taking their friends back to the airport so I actually got a bit of a lie in.  The day started warm and bright.  John was off on a bike ride with Pete, sadly Richard seems to have fallen foul of his mum's covid although as yet he has not tested positive but has all the symptoms.  Mid morning I went to Polis with Gail.  She had asked me where Tina's Art Cafe was and because I had given her some candles for her candelabra said she would buy me a piece of cake.  It was beautiful in the cafe courtyard and we had to move tables into the shade!!!  It was a very nice couple of hours sat chatting and getting to know one another better.  She is a hoot!

The weather took a turn for the worse lunchtime - storms have been forecast and storms are what we are getting.  The rain was sporadic - this was good because we were going out to Inea this evening and we had planned to walk.  The trouble was that with the change of weather came a massive change of temperature which left John and I confused as to what would be best to wear because we were going to the Vegan restaurant O Linos which was holding a special music event.  We had been asked to join Marianne and Jeff and that was what we were going to do.

Before that though we made the decision that we were going to put the thick winter curtains up in the conservatory to keep the cold out - the glass is great but you can feel a real chill coming off of it.  There is no heating in the conservatory unless we put the electric fire on so the curtains help with the general ambiance in there and this exercise kept us warm!

We managed to walk to and from the taverna without getting wet.  It is a charming place - a lovely old place which has been sympathetically modernised.  Inside there is only room for about half a dozen, maybe 8 tables of 4 which meant it was a very intimate venue to listen to music.

The food was vegan.  John and I really like the starters which were dips with homemade bread and a lively fresh salad.  One dip was made from roasted red pepper and walnut and the other from fava beans.  The main courses were ok but basically vegetables and pulses so not the most attractive of plates to look at although they tasted nice - I think if we were to be honest we did think the food was a little on the pricey side although the drinks were very reasonably priced.

We had to pay for the music on top but that was absolutely one hundred percent worth every penny.  We were entertained by a guy called Alex Tsangarides (no relation to the winery) and he played keyboard and sang - mashing up songs which everyone would know but would not dream of putting together.  He was an excellent entertainer and I would most definitely go to see him or his band The Crew again.

A big thank you to Marianne and Jeff for inviting us along - we really had a great night with them and hope that all goes well for Jeff tomorrow when he has an appointment at the Hospital.
