A Vicar of Dibley Day

It was Christmas Dinner number three for us today.  Fortunately John was feeling well enough to partake.  SNIPS and Anti-Biotics are doing their job.  We had warned Lilian and her guests, Ginge and Sally because so close to Christmas we didn't want anyone to go down with something that we might have passed on.  As you can see it was the most glorious day and I did about 4 clothes changes before settling on some lightweight trousers and a short sleeved cotton top.  Mum was joining us - she was delayed because she forgot her stick apparently.  She really needn't have gone back to get it because she forgets to use it half the time!!!

It had been lovely to have the weekend off from cooking.  Of all the Christmas dinners I will consume this year I will probably enjoy this one the most as all I had to do was sit and be served!!!  I had hoped to make some crackers but couldn't find the kits so made little gift bags instead which had chocolates, jokes and a small (hopefully useful) gift inside.  Lilian tried to set herself on fire which wasn't a good thing, she had allowed the potato fat to get too hot and when she put in the damp potatoes it all erupted in her face.  Fortunately Ginge was there to help - she had nothing more than singed hair and eyebrows thankfully.

Along with my little cracker bags Lilian had done little presents for us all.  I was so excited to get a magnetic shopping list pad - I ask for one of these every year!  It was a lovely afternoon, John managed to control his coughing fits and we had a fun afternoon and some lovely food.  I just hope I can return the favour next Sunday (Christmas Day) when Lilian is coming to us with Mum.  Ginge and Sally will have returned home.

There was the most amazing sunset as we travelled home.  December has been changeable so far but looking at the forecast good weather is with us for a while.  We were greeted by three ravenous cats on our return so we sorted them and then settled down to watch the World Cup Final - a very exciting game Argentina v France which ended up going to penalties.  Argentina won!
