Christmas is coming...

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.  Festivities are happening!  This evening we were going across to Gail and Pete's with Richard for the CODS (Cyclists of Droushia Society) Christmas Bash which was in the form of a Thai takeaway from the Farmyard - mmmmmm mmmmmmmmmm I have been eating that all week in my dreams.

On the subject of food I was busy making our supper for tomorrow using the left over sausages in onion gravy.  I added some bacon, leek, apple and carrot and topped it off with some more mashed potato - I am looking forward to that already!  John has also found a good recipe for easy apple tarts which I am going to give a go and may serve on Christmas Day if they work out well.

It was another lovely day, sadly it didn't last into the evening because as we were going across to our neighbours it was peeing down with rain and remained like that for the rest of the evening and most of the night.  In the garden there is a glorious splash of colour as one of my cyclamen has burst into flower.  Very jolly it is too.

John was well enough to go for a bike ride today and afterwards he and Pete went across to the Winery to stock up on some vino kokkino - I took the opportunity to start replenishing my stock of Christmas Cards.  I have been trying out some different ideas.  These were washi-tape Christmas Trees which will get stuck onto a card.  I have found some blank cards in my craft cupboard - not many but enough to keep me going.

Now that we have the waterproof sail up outside there are several solar lightbulbs not getting the sun so I decided to make a feature of them.  The spiral plant support is for the clock vine which has been cut down for the winter so I have just put the bulbs on that - really just so I know where I have put them but this evening they began to light up and it looks jolly festive!!!

We were eating early - I had arranged that the takeaway would be picked up at 6.30pm.  Gail and I went to get it and were delayed by a nasty accident this side of Fitos.  A Range Rover was wrapped around a telegraph pole.  The windscreen was intact so we guess that the occupant or occupants escaped ok.  They weren't there but the recovery vehicle was and we very nearly didn't see it or the tow wire that was across the road because there was no warning that that was what they were doing.  Fortunately because it was raining the traffic was going relatively slowly.

We got to the Farmyard on time, had a chat with Rachel and Valentina and then returned to Lordos 1 with some amazing aromas emanating from the carrier bags.

We had all ordered something different and although we do not normally 'share' there was so much food on the table that everyone got a chance to try something different to what they had ordered.

We are super impressed by the work that Gail and Pete have recently had done to their house and the style - I aspire to be as tidy and Gail and I love her taste.  The 'things' which she has placed in the alcove in their snug are beautiful.  If the clock ever goes missing she will know where to come look for it.

Even thought they only have a small log burner in the snug it is pointing towards the snug and the kitchen and it was more than enough to keep us toasty warm last night.  They are embarking on the kitchen and the bathroom in the New Year and I can't wait to see how that turns out.
