Enjoying some lovely Sunshine

Whilst sat in bed this morning reading the newspaper I learnt something about myself.  I have always assumed that I just had a photographic memory but it would appear that I may have been born with Hyperlexia because I was able to read way before I was 5 years old.  Hyperlexia means that you recognise and read words easily but don't necessarily understand what they mean - that may have been why I found exams so easy.  I didn't need to understand the words I just needed to read and remember and regurgitate the answers.  Having Hyperlexia can sometimes mean that you are assessed as being 'on the spectrum'.  I wonder if that is why, when I was at primary school, I found it difficult to make friends because I was a little 'different' and had the answer to everything.  I remember that before I left primary I had completed the normal curriculum and was tackling much more advanced 'stuff' and had passed my 11+ (the only one in the school to do so).  Maybe hyperlexia leads to imposter syndrome where someone feels they aren't as capable as others think and fears they will be exposed as a fraud - or maybe that was just having a boss who didn't appreciate just how much you put into your job!  Anyway it was an interesting discovery.

So today I did a bit of art because I purchased some paint pens from Lidl earlier in the week and I have to say I am in love with them.  I kick myself for not buying two packs when I had the chance, I picked up two but put one back because I couldn't quite ascertain whether they were the same sort of watercolour paint pens that I had seen online at a much more expensive price.  They just look like felt tips but you can blend them with water.  This was my first attempt, using standard card rather than watercolour paper which I reckon would give an even better finish.

We didn't have much planned for today save to photograph the position of all the Christmas Decorations so that we can put them back in the same place next year.  We plan to take them down on Monday which is early I know but we have had them up for weeks and I am itching to get the room back to normal and to give it all a good clean.  I can't believe how bare it looks when we do that.  I want to be less cluttered in the future.  Not sure how that is going to work as both John and I are hoarders although we keep completely different stuff and can never agree when we sort out things to be got rid of, I will rescue things that John has chosen and he will rescue things that I have chosen so we get nowere.

I suggested to John that maybe we go and get something out to eat today so that I didn't have to cook.  He thought it was a great idea and thought it might be nice to wander up the village to Kaponas but Eleni has had an operation on her knee and isn't going to be open until Epiphany so because we had enjoyed being down on the harbour at Latchi so much yesterday we thought we would do the same and have a late lunch at Molos.

Unbelievably we were able to wear shorts - on 30th December!!!  It was lovely and warm down on the coast and we managed to have our lunch (a steak baguette with chips and salad) in sunshine.

Cloud started to bubble up from Neo Chorio and when it did it started to get chilly so we returned to Droushia expecting it to be cold but the cloud was further over so it was still relatively warm and the conservatory was cosy.

My new washing machine is being delivered tomorrow morning which is good because I need to do some washing and I have missed several good drying days.  The new machine is super state of the art and has a quick wash which is only 15 minutes long - my old machine had a quick wash programme but that took about an hour to complete.  I am thinking that this new machine is going to be a lot more economical in the long run.

We settled down late afternoon to watch the end of the series we had been watching - Treason - it was quite good and kept us entertained.  Tomorrow is New Year's Eve - we are not going out so have decided to have a nice chili, a glass of wine and some TV - doubtful we will make it until midnight but we rarely do!
